Adventure Island II
This is one of those games that I bought for the weekly contests and now I'm trying to beat it. But man this is a tough nut to crack.
The game is so drawn out with stages that keep repeating themselves, and it is quite difficult... especially when you run out of items. I find that the difficulty spikes on ice island. Thus far I've made it to the fifth island once.
Besides for the frustration factor when running out of items I don't have any real complaints. The music is often beautiful and adds quite a bit to the game.
BTW, when doing the springboards, do not press the jump button after landing on them. They'll automatically spring you into the air. That's the secret to those stupid things. It took me too long to figure that out. Also, which levels you play has something to do with which eggs you select. If you always select the first egg, you'll play the same levels each time.

It's getting easier for me now that I know how to handle the springboards.
I was also having trouble with the boss level on the ice island but I think I have it figured out. The easiest way to get through it is with the pterodactyl.

I've never been a fan of the series either as I've always despised the hunger meter. HATE IT! It definitely forces you to play a certain way (speed running it) which I also hate. If they never implemented that feature,I'd probably have liked the series,but that one feature alone kills it for me.
I hear a lot of you guys on here boast about this series, so my interest is piqued!
Super Adventure Island changes it all up. I have very fond memories of Super Adventure Island II and remember playing and beating it multiple times. Man, I need that game again...
I love Super Adventure Island II. I picked it up recently and I've been playing it daily. Good graphics, good music, good challenge and great controls. Check it out if you haven't.
