Mega Man 9 Owners, quick question...

I got a copy off eBay the other day and it arrived.  I've seen a lot of these on eBay, but I'm always skeptical about buying from a 3rd party and obviously I'm not going to open it to make sure it's legit.  Just a couple quick questions.

1. No Horizontal Seam on these correct?  Mine doesn't have it.

2. More importantly, does yours rattle when you shake it?  It doesn't rattle badly (like a loose CD would in a box), but it kind of sounds like the plastic holding the CD shakes around a bit in the box.  Just wondering if this is normal.

Thanks guys!

  • Mine rattles, but not severely. It sounds like a CD that wobbles a bit around its hub, but doesn't sound like it's completely loose.

The seals are very cheap hand-op "rental-store" shrinkwrap, and won't have the h-seam. Check the cardboard hinge if you have a question as to whether it's been opened and resealed. I can imagine anyone wanting to satisfy their curiosity and see the contents could very easily put a new wrap on the box that would look equally cruddy as the "original."
  • Are you guys talking about the special edition that capcom only released a few hundred of. If so, the sound of the loose cd is in fact a loose CD. The box was meant only to emulate an NES box, there is no seal because it was likely wrapped by capcom employees, and a blanck cd with a redeemable code is found inside. I remember when these went on sale in the capcom store, they were all gone in an hour much to my chargrin.
  • BTW how much did you pay for it?
  • Those things are cheap as hell now, I paid like $115 shipped I think? 1 month ago before the whole wave of shipments arrived they were selling for like $225 to $250. Now everyone is trying to sell them at once and ruined the market!!

Gotta love supply and demand image Give it another month or two and watch the prices rebound instantly when the pool dries up and everyone has offloaded their $55 copies at 2x markup.
  • ^The only one on ebay right now is $195. I wish I had the money for it,
  • I've seen them go as high as $500
  • Damn rasone, you missed the ship then. There were 8-10 on at any given time last week when I bought mine.

There's actually two listed, one at $195 BIN and this one at $5 with 5 days to go:

    It'll end $150ish I'm sure.
  • $500 -- That was back before the public offering, when they were known only as "press kits" and it was thought that the only copies which would be floating around were those given to magazines and such.
  • While we're talking about price, I could see this selling for $300+ easily in a year or possibly even less. Pretty much everyone who bought this with the intent to resell has now received their copy and sold it on eBay. A few more will trickle on, but most of the people who own this game now are collectors and Mega Man fanatics who would probably never part with their copy (like me). That means the supply pool is virtually dry, and I see this being something that turns up on Ebay a handful of times per year in the not too distant future.
