Wow Bad Ebay Sellers are really making me angry

I won a CIB game and said please ship in a box this is the answer i got
item has already been packed in a bubble envelope and mailed. All my
video games are shipped in bubble mailers.

This comes 2 days after I got a kid icarus that was smooshed to hell in a envelope

  • Well this is why you always ask before paying. I usually try to get as many questions up front before the listing is over, such as condition concerns (lables, box issues, etc.) and shipping methods. However, sometimes you stumble upon an auction at the end and don't have the time. In this case, I always send the message after winning (but before paying) and say "Hi, could you please ship in a box not a bubble mailer" or something similiar.

But if the seller honestly always ships in a bubble mailer, then you were probably charged the bubble mailer shipping rate. Unless the seller uses priority boxes in an First Class Envelope (illegal), then you are going to have to pay more for a box and you should expect to...
  • I asked 30 seconds after I paid. The one guy who I got the Kid icarus said he would use a box and didnt
and 4.00 Media Mail isnt a Envelope rate.
Video games are not even suppposed to go out Media Mail
  • Hmm that does seem odd.

And I'd file a claim on the Kid Icarus and send it back if it bad enough that you are pissed. I've done that before with a Wild Gunman, believe me it's worth loosing $3 in shipping because the difference between a Mint / Near Mint copy of WG or Kid Icarus and a squashed one is a hell of a lot more than $3...

zach here is my theory put into practice ... ALL SELLERS UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE ARE DOUCHERIES WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING COMPLETE GAMES ... IF I ask that they ship it in a BOX they ship it in a bubble mailer without hesitation ... if I say nothing sometimes they ship it in a BOX ... i've just figured out by not saying anything I have a 50% chance of getting it in a BOX and if I ask them to ship it in a BOX I have a 100% CHANCE that they ship it in a bubble mailer ... now this is given prob around 30 diff items from 30 diff people ... but I generally have bad luck and get screwed on lots and lots of stuff

CASE and point just bought a boxed ultimate soccer and asked the guy to ship it in a box (my mistake obviously as he PAID PRIORITY but put the stinking thing in a priority envelope with no protection at all) ---- I think I just need to set up a buyer account and NEG everyone I buy from that screws me (the number is vast)

  • I sell on Ebay alot and Yes you can send videogames media!? I do it when shipping multiple items. Also if you asked, I would ship in a box but yes it would be more. Just the price of the box. You want it shipped in a casket pony up!

Yes, obviously you "can" ship them media mail. But you are not supposed to. They do not qualify as "media" per the USPS regulations. I think they used to qualify several years ago but have since changed what constitutes media mail.
  • My guess is that he didn't even have shipped it yet. Just wanted to make a little more profit.
  • Possible that sellers pack their items before they are even sold. Not saying it's a smart practice, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen.
  • I sometimes pack my packages before I sell them, just so they are ready to go as soon as I get paid.

If you're unlucky enough that somewhere along the way, someone decides to search the package (media mail is subject to search), they'll ask the recipient to pay the difference between media and parcel rate. Really not worth the hassle.

Yeah You can do anything you want. I have had to pay the difference numerous times.
USPS is losing money so they are cracking down on media mail fraud as they would call it

  • I never ship in a bubble mailer. Always in a box other than some manauls in a flat rate envelope cause I hate it when I get what was good in auction and it arrives crushed. However I did get almost 300 Atari/colecovision game last year all just dumped in a big box that had torn open.
  • Hey zach18451, I just had the same thing happen to me today. I bought a Fallout 3 Collector's Edition for PS3 on eBay. And it arrived with only one layer of brown paper wraped around it for protection. So the metal "lunch" box got a couple of dents in it. I got a good deal but man I was angry with the packing. WTF shipping a collector item like this. So he refunded a small 5$ to my account, better than nothing... image
