It looks pretty awesome although I do prefer the nes cart cover look of Nintendo's.
FYI, it's $26.99 with Amazon's preorder price guarantee. Consider it snagged!

Sweet. For $29-30 (after tax) I'll definitely get it. Question though. Do they send you an email before they charge your card on preorders on Amazon, or just do it when the time comes? Just curious as I've never preordered anything on there.
Thanks!
- The "slip cover" resembled an NES dust sleeve.
- It should cover all 30 games from the NES mini...not just 17!

It's been a while since I've preordered anything on Amazon, but I'm pretty sure they don't charge you until it ships.

They obviously take licensing seriously if they just used it to shut down that other project, so I'm guessing that they either didn't want to pay what others were asking to include their games or they didn't even bother and only did the first party ones. I can't be bothered to check: how many of the 30 games with the mini were first party? Second party?
It seems pretty interesting, though. Hopefully they have some content that only Nintendo can provide.
I might end up buying this anyways cause I'm an idiot.

You're a collector. The more idiotic the purchase, the better.
"Now we know why they shut down the Kickstarter." Which one? The art book one? That one I figured they shut down because you're basically repackaging someone else's copyright-protected art. If there's another one I'm unaware of, lemme know, but if you're referring to that one, I think there was multiple reasons why it was shut down, not just because this book was coming out (but that could have been one).

According to the description, it's gonna have ads and
Other content from Nintendo Power issues past, so that's a plus.

No tax on Amazon where I live.

Pre order price guarantee assures you that you will only pay the price listed on the preorder, even if the price increases between then and now. It may well be $44 when it releases retail, but I've secured a $27 price tag on it, and free shipping btw.

I'll check it out when I get home. Of course I'll check that out and then I'll get recommendations for 10 similar items I'll get nerd boners over.
GG Nintendo.
Maybe I'll just do a PDF then

I know what you are saying. With Gamestop focusing on collectible market now moreso than traditional gaming, I get a nerd boner every time I walk in there so I try to avoid the place as much as possible these days. Seeing stuff on the shelf makes it 10x more tempting to pick up than in an online shop.
I don't understand why some NES books are pulled from kickstarter, but others aren't. Where is the line drawn?
The standard is pretty clear, but they can't catch everything. When Nintendo sued Prima for their unauthorized guides Prima won and Nintendo lost because the copyrighted images of games were necessary for their derivative work (strategies) constituting Fair Use. If Prima just filled their book with pictures from the games and tried to make money off of what was almost entirely someone else's copyrighted work then they would have lost.
That's why the art book was not allowable and guides/strategies are. It's the same reason a journalist can report on research that references another news org's story. It's the same reason why some forums will not allow you to quote the content of the news you link unless you add commentary (Anandtech Politics & News comes to mind).

I used to collect video game art books,so when Udon was releasing all these amazing artbooks for Mega Man,Street Fighter,Darkstalkers,Capcom, etc. I was popping constant nerd boners and I spent lot of money getting most of them. Still need to get that Zelda one that came out a few years ago along with a few others that look super cool.
