Get'em Gary!

January 14, 2017 Update:

There will be a delay until the end of the month as I'm leaving state next week, and due to the holiday, the NES boxes wouldn't reach me before I left. Everything else, however, is in hand

Also, after working a little more with Roth, and working with GradualGames, Get'em Gary is now on Steam for Greenlighting! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=842594443

Let's get Second Dimension's first developed game on Steam!

New Years Update (12/31/2016):

Since the LE artwork is finished, the manual is finished, and the standard edition artwork is nearly finished, it's time to get things rolling to get this game out to everyone who wants it!

While I was hoping for an October/November release, unfortunately due to a few circumstances, it was delayed a little bit (fortunately only by 2 to 3 months, which in the grand scheme of things, isn't horrible), but I promise the wait is worth it.

Today is the 100% reveal of what's coming with the LE and RE, and some of the artwork (I'm also going to clean this post up a bit as it's getting a little cluttered).

The History:

Last winter (2015), I was talking with a member here (BlueAdol) on Facebook about Handy Harvy (and some graphics work on Blow'em Out), and we ended up talking about how neat it would be do to a NES version of Handy Harvy. We talked about some game mechanics and worked out the details of what graphics would be needed, and next thing you know, he drew up the graphics for Get'em Gary in the span of 3 or 4 days, maybe a week tops.

After getting busy with Handy Harvy and SecondBASIC, this idea was shelved and to be picked back up after Handy Harvy was finished. Well, long story short, the project was resurrected and was programmed from start to finish in under 2 weeks by Roth/Sly Dog Studios during the mid to late summer months.

Then, in September of 2016, the artwork for the boxes and manual started getting designed, and now as we make our way into the New Year, the artwork is also being finished up so production of the Limited Editions can start.

Get'em Gary is also compatible with the AVS Scoreboard!

The Artwork:

The artist who did the cover and manual art for Bomb on Basic City was recruited as I really love her art style, and she's very easy and fun to work with.

I was going to point out there's no LE list, but ya know what? I'll make one and see how many people want an LE, that may help determine some factors

(I'll also put you on the CIB list just in case)

  • I am in for boh CIB and LE
  • Put me in for both as well
  • I'd take an LE as well.

Danny - I have you just on the LE list for now like you originally said

  • I'm interested in the CIB release!
  • Noice! I'm completely down for a CIB.

    haha! as you wish!

  • I'd be in for an LE
  • Before I clicked on this thread, my mind had some fun with the idea of a game about a certain pet snail that lives under the sea.
  • LE for sure!
  • Put me down for a CIB.
  • Status update: Rusty's AI has been implemented, collision has been added, and we're looking good for finishing this week. I'll post a new video later on this evening
  • You know I'm down for a CIB copy!
  • Update in the first post
  • Reminds me of Kaboom from Activision on the Atari 2600, but with an added element.

    Cool looking game.
  • Put me down for an LE
  • I would be interested in the LE version. Actually I want both. My name is Gary and I do renovations, how could I not want a copy of this.

This game was made for you then! That's actually pretty awesome
  • I should add that I would be in for a LE copy depending on price/contents, etc. But, if I don't go LE, I will definitely go CIB

Understandable. I'm not 100% sure on the details yet, but will let you know as soon as I do
  • I didn't realize there was a signup of sorts. I'm interested, let me know what's up.

It's a signup/pre-signup thing right now. I'm just really excited about this project and couldn't keep it a secret, which is why I made this thread

LE's and standard CIB's are 100% happening, just the details of the LE aren't all there
  • Expect a big announcement on this project today
