My favorite Spidey-games (in no particular order) have been:
Spider-Man vs. the Kingpin (Sega CD)
Maximum Carnage (SNES/GEN)
Spider-Man (N64/PS1)
Spider-Man 2 (GC/PS2/XBOX)
Ultimate Spider-Man (GC/PS2/XBOX)
Shattered Dimensions (Wii/PS3/360)
I haven't played all the games, of course, but those are the most notable ones. My son has recently been playing Amazing Spider-Man 2 and I gave it a whirl. It's sad to think that it's basically a less-competent and less-fun retread of Spider-Man 2 on GC/PS2/XBOX. Yeah, the New York skyline might be a bit prettier this time around but the rest of the game is just no fun at all. In fact...I'd venture to say that it sucks.
I'm just crossing my fingers that Spider-Man: Homecoming will finally break out of the rut and give us a good-looking and fun Spider-Man game again...but I'm not holding my breath.
