Upon closer examination, it does seem that Spirit temple is a bit easier to get through than Shadow. I know them all very well by now, but Shadow (like water) has a couple of rooms that throw you off. Spirit is pretty straight forward even with its puzzles.
As a kid I was extremely creeped out by the Forest Temple and I remember getting the Water and Fire medallions before getting the Forest one. I must have gotten the bow and then ran like hell to get out of there. I absolutely dreaded the Forest Temple. I think I played it through the next year in normal order.
Nowadays I play it in order and love how eerie the Forest Temple and Spirit Temple is.
