Hey what up

I'm Matt. I'm 30. Every now & then I wanna talk about Nintendo games. More interested in Nintendo now than when I got the thing at 4 years old, so it's fortunate that we never got rid of things in my family. I was mostly limited to what Video Express had for rent or what I read about in Nintendo Power and moved on to the SNES pretty quickly, but thanks mostly to the amazing Shovel Knight I have gone back and dusted off the white, grey, & black box. I realize that game is like a roided up NES style game, but dat soundtrack will definitely put the bug in your head.

I have played around with emulators in the past, then once I started reading about the upcoming mini NES I found out about Raspberry Pi & got one of those (haven't owned any type of of PC in awhile). But all I have really learned from that experience is that emulators and flat-screens have too many ms of lag time for me to enjoy the games I wanna play. What you really need is a big old TV from the salvation army thrift store and a real console with cartidges. I accept no substitutes.

I still have the Super Mario trilogy + Duck Hunt and a zapper, as well as Yoshi and Dr Mario, the four TMNT games (can remember my dad questioning whether Tournament Fighters was worth $50 or whatever the price back then), Dick Tracy (played the hell out of that as a kid, seem to remember some McDonald's promotion) and Cobra Triangle. Few more in storage back home like Top Gun 2, WCTM with the running pad (not sure if that still works). I have been using ebay lately to pick up the best games i missed out on : Double Dragon 2, Castlevania trilogy (actually picked up 2 and 3 locally at game stores), Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2. My pawn shop Legend of Zelda got squished by a chair a long time ago but I ordered a good replacement from Gamestop.

As a kid I could never play games without my trusty Game Genie. Wouldn't even rent a game unless it had an invincibility or infinite lives cheat in my code book. It was many years still before I would develop gamer skills. I remember renting Bubble Bobble, Totally Rad, Chip & Dale's, RC Pro Am, Battletoads + BT and Double Dragon...I am looking to put together a collection of shmups (Gradius, Life Force, TGL, 1943 for starters), the Contra games , all the Mega Mans i can afford, Tecmo Super Bowl (played for the first time this year on my retropi 3, brilliant game), hopefully the 'toads games...not sure what else after that. I don't seem to have the patience or free time for RPGs anymore, but who knows. I have a SNES for those anyway.

but wow the prices have gone up in the past 7 years. I had a huge drug problem during that time following a death in my family, and i kick myself daily for all the wasted years and dollars, but now that I am clean I have money to spend on carts. Nintendo is one of my anti drugs. Anyways, I'll see you around the forum.
