I want to start a secret faction of NA who's sole purpose is price manipulation

I'm going to open a private thread where a handful of amoral pricks will attempt to manipulate the price of a specific game.

This is not for "research purposes"--we are using our powers for evil.

If if you want in, reply in this thread with the word "mammon".

Comments

  • You're way late, we have like 7 or 8 of those factions already MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  • According to all the conspiracy theorists on the web, this secret faction already exists on NA.

    Also: mammon.
  • I'll derail this thread now.

Don't eat too many hot dogs!

Sorry if I ruined anyone's day.
  • mammon

Let's do it. First stop, that hype thread asking what the next Little Samson is. THEY ALL ARE
  • Me and Krunch have been doing that for years. We caused Whomp 'em to shoot up by sheer will power. Pretty epic.

HA! My day was already ruined, so there.
  • I would like to nominate Hot Dog Champ as the first title to jack up. I heard one dude even bought three of em, back when they were going for $250 apiece. Now they're only down to a lousy $175, according to that aftermarket price guide.
  • Honestly, it'd be more fun to make the price of a game completely drop. I'd love to see Earthbound or something else lose all of its value.

    How would that work?
  • mammon

I wonder how many people here have done this. Its easier than it should be. James & Mike do it unintentionally nearly every week.
  • I've known for awhile that If I was rich I would of intentionally done this with some random shit game, just to see what I was capable of. Like, buying every copy of Stargate for SNES for 5 years.
  • Also, mammon if its Stargate for SNES
  • Im totally down. Everyone go by as many copies of Silent Service as you can.
  • How do you think genesis got so popular? Just call me puppet master.
  • Cool, Earthbound down and Monster Party up. LET'S DO THIS!
  • Doing this kind of thing isn't really that hard if you've done your homework on what games are genuinely rare (and under the radar so). Then all you'd need to do would be to spend the $ and buy up every copy of that title and show some patience and sit on it awhile, (and let the market reflect the fact there aren't as many out there as before you bought your copies).

There are plenty of games that this tactic would work with across every system (not in print).

Well, we'd have to crap all over any thread that has to do with Earthbound...?

Something I have to hold back on as it is.

Also, Chrono Trigger sucks. People should start selling it for $5.

    Ps. Mammon

pps. Although stating my true feelings, I am being facetious.
  • My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who said that Phantom 2040 on SNES is Super RARE and Totes Amazeballs and will most definitely be the next Little Samson/Stadium Events/Dinosaur Peak!! I guess its pretty serious! Don't believe me, go L@@K!!

  • Nice idea, but how will we know which prices to rig? I suggest we start by raising the prices on all the games I have and crashing the prices on all the games I want. Mammon would be proud.
  • Can we also try to make people believe in games that don't exist? Like the infamous Nanny's Pipers? If so I'm in.
  • This was fun and funny, but I'll be the buzz kill.
