Advice needed for new member

I need some advice.  I joined just a few weeks ago and was looking thru the for sale threads.  I noticed there are lots of really good offers out there and would rather support collectors than Ebay sellers.  How do I know who to do business with?  Is there a best practice on sending payment (ie PayPal).  I noticed messages were sent to my mailbox for offers I did a few weeks ago...how do I know if I recieved new mail?  Do I get an alert?  I dont want other collector and members to think I am avoiding them and I dont want to lose out on great deals.  The only email I get states "a member has qouted you in their post".



I can't believe I got so old I dont know how to work a forum anymore  



Any advice is appreciated.

    1) Check user feedback and use your judgement when communicating with members.

    2) Paypal is the recommended method of payment.

    3) You can check your messages by clicking "Inbox" in the top right corner.

    4) Read the Site Rules/FAQ section to read the site rules. To get there click on Menu in the top right and then click on Site Rules/FAQ.



     

    Also, go to menu -> profile -> notifications to set up alerts.

    Welcome! If you're picky on who you sell to, you can probably look through posts made by the member to determine who is more likely to hold onto the purchase for a while. But you can never be sure.



    The rest of the advice above is good. PayPal goods and services only, that way you're covered. And yeah you can get emails for every message you get. Just need to set it up.

    Thank you to all for the advice. I just completed my first NA transaction with Bonanza. It was pretty easy. I like how the site helps protect all parties involved. Looking forward to more trades and purchases.

    Thanks everyone for your input. Just finished my second NA transaction with VGD...it went super smooth, he seems to be a great guy. I just finished all 87 pages of the HoS Thread..wow, reads like a TV soap. Sucks that some people take advantage of collectors / gamers.
