I was watching this for a while. The copy you linked to was originally listed back in April 2016 at open auction by eBay user boogatron and sold for 37 GBP - it looks like the winner of that auction is the same person you linked to (jaffrocheese) who then sold it for 200 GBP. You can tell from the damage to the cover that the eBay copy is the same as the one on RetroCollect, so I figured this was just a single misprint that occurred, but if you didn't get yours from jaffrocheese then I suppose there could be more with the same, or a similar misprint.
Sorry I don't have any more info on it, but to me it just looks like a misprint with some color missing.
Joe - thanks for the info. I actually got my copy from a close friend, I didn't ask where she got it. It might be the same copy (got it along with Acquarium Baseball).
The thing is that it looks like a strange misprint. You don't see an error in wording etc. Seems more like a temp cover for internal use and not designed for public that a factory error in printing. Because the graphics on it are pretty clear.
So from what I take it is a legit rare copy and not a very cheap one at 200GBP never knew misprints can cost that much.
Thanks for the further update Hybrid. Also appreciate your website as a source regarding to misprints for collectors.
So I take it the misprint is a legit copy. Thanks guys
as for it being a promo or internal copy i don't think so.
one thing you will notice at least to me the graphics don't seem as vibrant and you can correct me if i'm wrong but they should "shine" when light is put on them on a correct copy. it maynot be all that noticible, but i'm willing to bet that copy dosn't do that. that holo foil print layer is translucent so the images below will be seen after it's applied. another thing that points to it being a misprint is the fact that the "PAL Nin" does not read "PAL Nintendo" like on the regular copy.
Thanks for the further info. I also don't think it is a promo since it should be part of the 2nd print run in the UK (from what I understood). There are a few missing items. True. The Zelda logo however does have the "shine" effect. The big question is why the Triforce is clearly visible while the rest of the gold pattern is missing. Anyway, it is still a very cool misprint.
I tried to reupload but doesn't seem to be working on my end. I uploaded the attachment but it appears to provide a broken url rather than upload the pic.
Hopefully works now note: it came with the dvd protactive case, I took it out for a better shot. As seen by the small damages to the cover under the +12 sign. Seems to be the same.
