Are There Any Hot Wheels Collectors Here?
I'm just curious if there are any collector's around here.
I don't do it heavily, but it's a fun side hobby to video games.

I used to collect hotwheel through high school and a little after, I think I collected for about 8+ years then got bored of them and sold out, I used to love going to walmart around Christmas and digging through the hotwheels bin to find treasure hunts.
I collect on and off, and I usually trim everything down after a short while.
Enjoy them for a bit, and then pass them on. I used to have the mentality of keeping all my T-Hunts, but those will eventually go as well.
I was just collecting way to much stuff, so I decided to trim a lot of my stuff at that time, I sold all of my hotwheels and I also decided to only collect nes stuff so I sold off all of my other gaming stuff as well at the time. I think I only had about 800ish hotwheels all still in their packages and I had like 67 treasure hunts from different years.
Same here. I really had to whittle down everything. I stopped collecting sports memerobilia and music stuff to be able to focus on video games. Hot Wheels just creeps in when I have the itch to do something else.
I just found an old KITT car in a $3 bin at a comic shop. Worth anything?
As in Knight Rider? How old is it?
What is a treasure hunt?
They are the "chase" cars
They come in two varieties, a "regular" T-Hunt or a "Super" (or "$uper") T-Hunt.
T-Hunts aren't really worth much, but they are fun to find
I love his collection. So many Redlines!
I have so many boxes and tubs full in storage right now back home I couldn't even put a number on it all. These days I just collect what I like, mostly just the mainlines that catch my eye and I really like the Car Culture series that have been coming out lately like Japan Historics and Track Day. My big passion is stuff like the mid 1970s blackwall era cars up through Real Riders and Cal Customs from the 1980s.
Really likeing this show when the topic is not Video Games lol. That episode kinda bothered me but anything non video game related is wonderful to watch. The Hot Wheels guy is badass. I always knew about the surf board bus for some reason. No idea why I did but I honestly did.
Yup, collecting since the early '90s. It all started with blue cards when I was a kid about 7-8 years old. I used to do all of the mainline sets, First Editions and Treasure Hunts until about 2001-2002. Kind of tapered off for the next 10 years or so.

I prefer the vintage stuff, but it's hard to come by out here. Buying on eBay is way too expensive.

I like the licensed cars from tv shows and movies and pick them up when I can. These are all Hot Wheels except the General Lees. The one in the front is an original Ertl and the other is a Johnny Lightning. I have an original KITT from Knight Rider somewhere too. (That one might have been Matchbox.)
I have some of the original ERTL cars, Boss Hog, Roscoe, and the Lee.
I also had some of them autographed by James Best for somebody once too.

I used to have the entire set when I was a kid. I believe Cooter's pickup is the only other one I have left. Not sure where though.

I wish I had the whole set, they were so cool. I'm missing a bunch.

Same here, I love the cars I remember having as a kid.
My dad gave me about 2 dozen Redlines a few years ago. Shell gas stations used to give them out when you'd fill up so naturally he started collecting them and passed them on to me. I've picked up some more over the years but mostly through trading or at conventions.
This show looks awesome. They should do another series of it. A quick google search says it was only around from 2002-2003.

It looks really old, has some paint chips on it, nothing major.

Yeah, I was bummed when it went off the air...

I'm not sure what it is, but there is something about redlines that draw me in. It's probably the "classic Americana" type of interest. Classic American toy, classic American cars... etc. Maybe something about the Californian roots draws me in too, I'm not sure.
I only have one from that era, it was one that my dad had I believe. I plan to "restore" it.
Every time my wife takes my 2 year old son to the grocery store, he comes home with a new Hot Wheels car. Does that count as collecting?
That's the best kind!
