Weirdest Pack-In Freebie with a Game?

Back in the day I picked up a copy of Landstalker for the Sega Genesis from a local KB Toys location. Amazing game, but that's besides the point. After tearing off the shrinkwrap, there was a brand new, individually wrapped Fruit Roll Up inside the clamshell case. I don't remember the flavor, and I do remember that the packaging didn't have any kind of indication that there was a free Fruit Roll Up inside, but my understanding is this was done with a number of Sega Genesis Games.

Anyways. What are some of the weirdest free items you've seen bundled with individually sold games at retail?

I'm pretty sure condoms count as pack-ins.  Or at least that what I used them for.

What?  You know I had to say it!

Leather Goddess of Phobos had a scratch and sniff card that it told you to smell when you walked into the bathroom in game.  The smell on the card was "old pizza".

Whaaaaat? They packed in underwear? Man, and I thought the bodypillow covers were offputting.

Yeah, the Rez "Trance Vibrator". Although I'd mark that more as an accessory haha

    MOD EDIT:

Reminds me of the Harry Potter "barf flavored" jelly beans that were actually just reused Pizza flavored ones.

  • Run Like Hell, a futuristic third person shooter set on a space station, had in game advertising for not futuristic Bawls energy drink. Apparently there was a version that came packed with a Bawls. That sure comes to mind.

Record of Agarest War of course comes with an anime girl pillowcase and squeezable breasts mousepad, so there's that.

Energy drink? That's pretty cool. On the business side, I can imagine that it must have presented some interesting issues. I know in Canada they have an exorbitant soft drink tax, and some stores might not have wanted to have a $60 game take up three times the shelf space because of a $2 drink.

  • Rez takes the cake.
  • I once got a bag of lint with a game, a bag of lint! I took it out and played with it, and then put it back.
  • Does all the random shit I've gotten at the bottom of bins of games at yard sales count?

Someone, somewhere would have that game complete with unopened drink.

I think the Fruit Roll-Up came with other Genesis games too, like Greatest Heavyweights.  Some people on SegaAge have opened sealed games and confirmed this in this day and age too.
  • Unfortunately, my personal offering isn't that much, but it's the only one I recall. My Mom bought my brother and I Yo Noid! because it was in the bargain bin. It was a surprisingly fun game (go CAPCOM!) and we played it way more that I would have thought we would.

Anyway, it came with a $1 off of one Pizza coupon which, though not much, I thought was both cool and a missed opportunity. If they could have increased the price of the game by a few bucks and thrown in a FREEE PIZZA, they would have sold the fool out of those games.

What's better than gaming and Pizza? Not much!
  • 5k literally packed in(side) a NES Golf still wins it for me.

Personally the weirdest/coolest pack in I had was a shot glass with Guacuamelee IndieBOX.

Yep. I know someone got a game rejected by VGA, opened it, and confirmed it was actually new. And it had the fruit roll up. Want to say Gunstar Heroes.

I actually didn't know about the fruit rollups until I saw this nice newly unsealed Gunstar Heroes when that happened

  • How about a sewing machine?

    image
  • After reading some of the responses above, this one really isn't that weird, but Kasumi Ninja for the Jaguar came with a Kasumi Ninja headband. I have one, and yes, I've worn it.
  • PS1 Surf Riders with the Mr Zog's Sex Wax tin?
  • the 3d glasses in contra legacy of war, but the 3d in the game sucks.

That's still weirder than most. The most common pack-ins I've seen are guide books or soundtrack CDs from what I can casually remember.

  • Wasn't there a Game Boy Color game that came with a sewing machine?

I've gotten some weird stuff in the bottoms of those bins as well. The weirdest thing I've gotten was at a game store though... A copy of Sudki had 4 condoms in the instruction manual. That was weird.
  • How about the creepy soccer puppet/doll with the Kid Kleets GBA release?
  • These are all some pretty weird/creepy things, but in terms of how it tied into the game itself, I gotta go with the classic disappearing reappearing ink letter that came with Star Tropics. Plenty of games have had packins, and plenty of those packins have tied into the game itself, but this was the only time I can think of when the pack in itself was a puzzle that needed to be solved outside the game using a clue IN the game. Even the "check the box" moment in Metal Gear Solid didn't quite approach that level.
  • I'm going to cheat with a preorder bonus:

In one specific shop in Japan, the preorder bonus for Mega Man Legacy Collection on 3DS was a can of off-brand Wet Naps, except the can itself looked like an E-can. It was an official product, with a "Rockman Classics Collection" logo and all. I'm proud to have one in my collection.
  • The Gal Gun collector's edition comes with a "screen cleaner" but its just a pair of panties. lol Oops, not a free pack-in sorry.

I did get a blow up Teddy from the Persona fighting game. That's a bizarre item to me.
