Your words were "mediocre, rare turd." I get that Mega Man is more popular, but there is room for both, and someone could absolutely find strategy games more fun than an action platformer.
Well, turd might have been harsh. LOL! That said, lets be honest, people aren't going back to that game like they are a Mega Man game, so I was just saying, it wasn't really a bad trade. Mega Man 5 will always be a more desirable game, to most, in the long run.
i haven't had as bad trades as you guys had but, i traded cib diddy kong racing, metroid prime with bonus disk, and super monkey ball 2 for majoras mask 3d when it first came out.

For playing, maybe. Though not for everyone.
For collecting, you will run into any NES Mega Man game before Bandit Kings on average.
When the PS3 came out I traded in my mint PS2 collection at gamestop. I traded in 70 games .hack haunting ground and a bunch of other stuff. They only gave me $120 in store credit.

Rule of thumb, never, ever, ever, EVER sell or trade or buy anything from Gamestop.
About a year ago, I got a rare NES game called Bandit Kings of Ancient China, which I then foolishly traded for a pricy, but common game, Mega Man 5 (and a Dogbone Controller).
As you'd might expect, Mega Man 5 is dropping, Bandit Kings is rising, which represents a classic mistake of trading a rare game for an overpriced common game.
What was YOUR worst trade ever?
That's ok. I turned my Bandit Kings into a reproduction of Just Breed.
I once traded a classmate a copy of Back to the Future 2/3 for NES filled with a handful of pubic hair for a copy of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I'm undecided on who received the better trade, now that I think about it....
Daria, you used Bandit Kings for Just Breed? That's a real shame, given the Bandit Kings board (NES-ETROM) has two 8KB PRG RAM sockets, it's trivial to upgrade those to 32KB SRAMs and install Infidelity's excellent Super Mario All-Stars MMC5 multicart.
Then again, Just Breed is probably far more appealing.

Am I missing something or did you make a mistake looking up recent values? I see copies of Mega Man 5 selling for more than Bandit Kings!
All my original NES to Funcoland when I got my SNES. I remember for the system and like 15 games, I got around $40. Then I put it towards 1 SNES game. Like most stories on here, probably the worst trade...but dont know if these count.

I believe Bandit Kings is quite a bit more uncommon though.

It really is. I also had the cart made like 8 years ago so it doesn't even have the nice expanded sound.
I also only paid $5 for Bandit Kings, which was a huge influence on my decision to have the cart made.

You could have expansion sound added to your cartridge, it would just require a few passive components, the English translation for Just Breed doesn't remove the expansion audio. I don't own an NES-ETROM game but judging by the scans at Bootgod's NesCartDB, the board already has the expansion audio circuit, it just needs to be populated.
That said, all the MMC5 offers is an additional noise channel, it's nowhere near as drastic an improvement as the Konami VRC6 or 7.

Traded in my pikachu gameboy micro to game crazy in 2006 or 2007 , luckly last year i finally found one on ebay for about half retail but that is one that sticks with me
I threw a Ninja Five-O box and manual into $10 trade that included Tonic Trouble (cart only) and Halo 2. It would be nice that have that one back. I can't be mad though, by today's standards I got tons of crazy deals like that in 2008.
Bandit kings sucks who cares if its "rarer" theres an argument to be made that rare games that are not fun only appeal to the complesionist collectors. Which % wise is very small and dropping. Where as commoner fun games ie chrono trigger will always have a market. I cant see our grandkids attempting to collect sets. It will be i love 2040 mario bros. would be cool to have the first one as novelty. Just my humble opinion. I play everything i own. Big wake up for me was when i tried selling a rare crappy snes game and got no biters but a reallllly lowball. Compared to metal warriors which is rare and fun i got a lot. However, selling super mario world i had a hundred emails in a day. Try testing the water locally on some rare not fun games. You wont get the interest or offers you think. Its like the housing market lol
In the early '90s I traded a Genesis and about 15 games for a '76 Mustang II. Later, I traded an NES and games for an '82 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a blown engine.

Back then this was a fair trade. Not so much now lol

Good to know. Thanks!
I traded $10 for a game I already had yesterday, despite having and looking at the extensive list I keep. That one sticks out most to me ATM.
LOL at this one, story of my life. I guess we have all had this happen.

Yep that's happened to me too!
