majoras mask not for resale cart??

I found a not for resale copy of majoras mask. Dont know what the value / rarity of this is can someone point me in the right direction. Its the gold cart and has a "normal" holographic label. The only weird thing is the label on the back.

  • I thought NFRs for this game were gray? I don't know.

The plastic used on gold MM carts is very brittle. Be careful with it.
  • its in perfect condition I'm just confused on what it is. Thanks for the heads up!
  • Does it say "not for resale" on the front label? There are two variations of the MM NFR: the gray (super rare and expensive one), and the gold one (this, if it has the NFR on the front label). If it does, the back sticker adds value. I would put it around $100-125 depending on the condition of the front.
  • I just added a picture of the front. It has the holographic label and no not for resale.

Then it's just a gold cart with a back sticker on it; very strange, but defiantly not a true NFR if it doesn't have it on the front label.  Although... someone could have switched out the front label?

My advice: test it for yourself and find out... only way to really know.

  • Looks like a store demo cart, for use before release for a store to demo the game on a kiosk.
  • Now that is weird. I wonder if it's actually a demo, or is they just repurposed a sticker for some reason. If you pick it up, try loading the cart.
  • ...... I think it is a not for resale but someone put a holo sticker over it. one of the corners is lifted now that I take a closer look and there is a non holo label under it. Im afraid to pull it back as the whole thing might be ripped off... any suggestions or is there nothing I can do.
  • So I bit the bullet and pull the holo label back. turns out someone put a sticker over it for some reason there is no damage to the label under it but part of the fake label is still on the cart what is the best way of getting it off?
  • Nice that just seemed way too weird.
  • That is pretty weird. If someone wanted to remove or hide the not for resale on the front, they would also certainly remove the back sticker as well. Usually, game stores would put a black marker across the not for resales to hide it. Guessing whoever owned this had no idea what not for resales were and just wanted to have the original label on the game. The not for resale is exactly like the retail version, so if you added that label over it, it can pass off as a retail game. Still, nice find as the back label looks very fresh!
  • should I leave it as is or try to get the fuzzy white paper off the top?
  • That label brings the value. Don't damage it.
  • There's a way to get it off with a blow dryer or heat gun, but it's tricky... if you're inexperienced doing stuff like that, don't mess with it.

Those holo stickers, while they were placed on retail copies, they were also where given out by Nintendo as a promotional thing. Someone could have just stuck it on to hide the "NFR" to try and resell it.

Strange that there's a gold NFR cart out there. Neat stuff.
  • thanks everyone for all the help!!!! I learned a lot from this. I guess the next step is to sell it as NFR games are not really my thing.
