Clown Hunting

I've been hearing there are clown hunting groups forming.  People going out looking for these creepy clowns and then beating the crap out of them.  I'm not sure I care to do it, but I support this.  As long as working clowns aren't getting beat up at some kids birthday party.

Clowns dont seem to be to interested in Alaska either.

  • I think the bears eat them up there.
  • My friend wants to beat up a clown.

The only clown sighting in New Zealand so far has resulted in that person being arrested.

  • Feels good to live in Europe, away from those evil clowns.

    No sightings here for now.
  • haha, I'm afraid I don't give enough of a shit for that. Sounds like a fun cause, though!
  • A few of the clown sitings in my area were high school kids.
  • BTW, the map is wrong, there was a teenager arrested in Fontana for dressing up as a clown and chasing people, and a couple of college kids were caught by campus police for the same thing.
  • Lmao this is getting out of hand. The map could use another update in Iowa I think yesterday a clown was arrested for chasing some people with a baseball bat.
  • This would make a great beat-em-up!
  • It's gotten so bad McDonalds has taken Ronald McDonald out of a lot of their advertising.

A clown car pulls up and you have to fight an endless onslaught of clowns until you are able to destroy the car, like the monster generators in Gauntlet!

And in Michigan someone was arrested for threatening to shoot up a school dressed as a clown

Ahhh that would actually make a pretty good hack....someone please do it.

Oh and as a side note, this whole clown thing is just.......I don't even know what to say......so silly.

  • If you feel that dressing up and menacing your community is a good thing, then maybe a community ass kicking is right for you. That's my thoughts on it.

A clown can't chase you if you don't run.

Honestly, the problem is more in how people react irrationally. It blows my mind that people would actually try to arrest and charge someone for acting creepy while dressed as a clown. The terroristic threats, I can understand, but "trying to abduct a child" or "chasing people with a baseball bat" sound ludicrous. Drawing attention to yourself is not how child abductors work. If I saw a creepy clown beckoning for my kids to go into the woods while I was right there then I would understand that he wants it to LOOK like he's trying to do something to my kid because I'm a rational human being. If I saw a clown chasing people with a baseball bat and not actually hitting them with it, I would understand that it's just a stunt.

Any insinuation that these clowns were trying to abduct children or hit people with baseball bats is just that: an insinuation. You can't just make up an intent that doesn't apply (and doesn't even make sense) to arrest people.

Yes, some kids reportedly choked people and threatened to kill them, but that means you do something to THOSE kids. Otherwise, it's the same problem I have with the Dallas police arresting a motorcycle rider and seizing his camera just because he was out on the same day as THOUSANDS of others (Memorial Day rally) and some of those others were misbehaving (he didn't even know them).

Back when this happened I didn't even own a car and I had to commute to work on my sport bike even on Memorial Day. I also recorded video nearly every ride (this is EXTREMELY common for bikers). If I got arrested and my camera got confiscated just because some other idiots were harassing police, I'd be furious. Thankfully, this video was leaked to the press by someone from the evidence room. Their response was to show the bad behavior of other bikers that day, which is even more infuriating. Do you arrest an innocent car driver and confiscate their dash camera just because some other car driver was antagonizing you?

I see bad bikers misbehaving and getting cagers (other vehicle drivers) to lash out at the safe and responsible bikers who are guilty by association. Forming parties to beat up these clown pranksters and arresting them even when they haven't done anything wrong is just as bad and I must speak out about it.

"He chased me with a bat!" Yeah? Did he hit you with it? "No." Well, why do you think it's justifiable to hurt him? Why did you even run?

I think the whole clown thing is stupid and I would never participate in the prank but I think the response to it is even worse. People feel justified, but they should feel stupid for letting it get to them that much.
  • Everyone knows that clowns have 2 weaknesses.
  • I think someone coming at you with a bat is enough reason to run and enough reason for an arrest. You're supposed to wait for them to hit you before you do anything?

yeah I agree. What about that one with the knife? I believe the video was posted here. Oh he's chasing me, and has a knife, you bet your ass I'm outta there
  • Right, the threat of something, whether or not it's a "prank," is enough to get yourself in trouble.

But also not sure it gives you the right to go out hunting clowns.
  • No, you'd be just as much on the wrong at that point. But walking around dressed as a clown, when all this shit is happening, is just asking for trouble regardless of your intentions
  • For the college incident, they were young women chased by a male student. Plus, there was an attempted kidnapping of another young lady (not by a clown, by a random thug) a few days earlier on the other side of campus.

Women have enough to worry about, like presidential candidates walking up and groping them. Random clowns running after them are probably something they should flee.

edit: It looks like the Fontana incident was actually a 14 year old making threats over social media under the moniker "Fontanakillerclown." I don't know if he actually dressed up as a clown, but apparently the threats were enough to get him arrested.

In plenty of places you are legally justified to defend yourself against a perceived threat (i.e. somebody chasing you with a baseball bat)

You don't need somebody to ACTUALLY hit you with a bat to be justified in self defense.

Especially if a person starts actively chasing you, your ability to claim a defense of "fearing for your safety" is probably going to hold up.

Generally speaking, chasing people around with a baseball bat is illegal.

There are numerous laws they can use to charge somebody that is doing that.

In this day and age, anybody choosing to "prank" unwilling participants by menacing them in some way is a fucking idiot and is lucky that they don't get shot.
  • Can't beat up someone just because they are in a clown costume. If they are trespassing on your property call the police. If they come at you with a weapon, or just come at you in general you have a right to protect yourself.
