Choose a game for the 2017 SNES contest
I already have the slate for 2017 ready to go, pending the 2016 champion's selection. But I figured having you guys choose a game would be more fun.
Poll coming imminently. I am not accepting write-ins at this moment, as there is a good possibility those games would already be on a future schedule somewhere

At stages 2 and 5 (or 6, been so long) you can keep repeating rooms, allowing you to score ludicrous amounts of points (or defeated enemies, as is the case with this game).
And it is darn easy, so easy someone as terrible at video games as me could do it for hours before getting a game over.
Don't know what they were thinking calling it "Whizz." Reminds me of going number one.
I'd never heard of Whizz. Looked it up on Youtube and those are some nice isometric graphics.

I always associated it with number 1 personally

Oops, you're right. Fixed.
As much as I love Brawl Brothers, it is a TERRIBLE title for a contest.

I'm well aware, as I got hopelessly lost in that part when beating the game this year.
Any game with scoring exploits will have rules in place forbidding them
Not Aladdin. That really is not a good game (at least the SNES one, that is).
Really? I thought the SNES one was pretty good. easy but still fun. kinda polar opposite with the Genesis one. But I always felt the acrobatic kinda movement suited the character better than just going stabby
You should pair Jim Power with Battlemaniacs.
Seconded.
I would recommend against firepower 2000 and Axelay. Both have broken scoring, although axelay is less broken than FP2000.
There would be rules against using exploits. I know you're not a fan but that is the caveat I'm faced with most games

They aren't really exploits, just places you can farm points. If I had to pick between the two I'd do Axelay, as point farm is much harder in that game than in FP2000 where you can literally farm the first boss for infinite points.

I had the opposite reaction. While I would agree to some extent on the acrobatic aspect, the game as a whole seemed to fall flat. The scene with the genie where you had to jump on the different parts in the clouds was maddening.

you know about the sheet that lets you slowly float rather than fall straight down right? I thought that made it more manageable. It's a shame that it's a pickup and you lose it when you die though. I think it should be an ability you have the whole time. When I said it's easy I was thinking with the sheet but i could see it being much more challenging without
Voted qbert 3 because that's the only one I own
Well I will announce the full slate in December. Plenty of time to start acquiring the means to play the games

True
Aladdin wasn't a bad game but it was incredibly easy. I recall renting it on a Friday night back when it came out and beating it before I went to bed that evening.
I also considered nominating Cybernator...because it's just fun.
