Thank you bimmy_lee and guillavoie

I think both guys need a shout out for running the contest, this time for an entire year.  I don't think I'm just speaking for myself when I say that was some of the most fun I've ever had playing video games*.  They've said this was the best contest ever, and I believe them.  Here's to 2017 being even better.

  • Awesome.

You guys did a great job this year!

I had a blast with the few games I participated in.
  • I was thinking that AI had the easiest boss fights... in contrast to the incredibly difficult levels.
  • Hell ya sandafloor!! You got skills bro!!! Kobra respect.

    Bimmy, guillavoie THANK YOU!

    2017 I'm taking gold. Wanabees
  • Easiest game - RoadBlasters

Six of us beat the "world record" that week.
  • Thanks to all of those who made it an awesome year, it was some of the funniest times I have had on here.

Once again I apologize for my fuck up during the first week of the tournament and not being able to compete....I felt like shit about it but I had a lot going on in life that week and couldn't do it.
  • Yup, big ups to the head tournament honchos! Definitely a special thing that we all appreciate. Absolutely has made me appreciate my NES more, along with the games we played throughout the year.
  • You guys did really great, I didn't participate in to many but the one week I did was one of my favorite times playing an NES game.

I can't wait until 2017, now that I can play the whole year through I might as well go for 1st

    I dare you!

  • Thanks for all the kind words, guys. This year was a lot of fun and I hope next year can be even more fun than this year. I hope to see everyone back in 2017, plus some new faces. I'll try to make sure to do creative intros all year in 2017. The last couple months of 2016 I didn't have as much time, plus I was getting a bit burned out with it.

For those who won prizes in the tournament, I will get a picture posted soon so you can see what you won. I hope everyone will enjoy their prizes. I will hold the elimination prize drawing a little bit later just in case some people concede prizes and what not.

    Double dare you!

  • I'd like to get back into doing these next year now that I'm a bit more settled and have everdrives.
  • Looking forward to competing in 2017. After playing in 2015, I took a long break this year. Hope to have some fun competitions with you guys soon.
  • Fun was had this year, this is for sure.

Thank you all for taking part on this and Bimmy and Guil for hosting the contest.
  • Thanks to the organizers and everyone who participated! I am looking forward to the next one.
  • Indeed, big thank you to Bimmy and Guillavoie! The contests really helped me focus on specific games and gave me a renewed sense of determination, instead of "oh, I guess I'll just play ___ today..." The contests exposed me to a lot of games I would not have discovered on my own.

I really hope we do 1943 again in 2017, because I'm fairly certain I can score a lot higher than I did previously. I think that was one of the very first contests this year and I wasn't in "competition mode" yet(I was a noob).
  • Thanks to those Bimmy, Guillavoie and everyone who competed. Wish I could play for fun but the competition in these is in a league of its own!
  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do for these contests! I'm glad I could participate and help make them one of the best things going on!

I agree with you on this.  This competition, which I know is at the heart of the reason for doing it, has prompted me to utilize a greater part of my NES library.  I was very thankful to have made it into the final tournament this year (by the skin of my teeth and because of some other drops) and am VERY thankful that I made it to the last round.  I started out strong on the boards then kind of fizzled out early on.  I hope that 2017 fares better for me in that sense.

Oh and I hope that we do 1943 again as well.  Not because I want to have pre-mature CTS or RSI but rather so I can take the last second posts of Bert and Skinny and climb to the top this time.  I'll be the mongoose and neutralize the Cobra!

^this guy is a shoot em up wizard.... I'd need my best and still need an off day from acromite to even have a chance.

  • Great job playas, thanks.
  • By the way, the Rollergames boss you're referring to is Mizz Georgia Hase, manager of Bad Attitude.

  • Thank you guys so much for hosting the contests this year. I miss playing alongside you guys but you're the best at organizing these things (remember the nes ruler days? Lol) and thanks to guill for always reading and responding to my late night random PM's about the current game haha. Seriously these are my favourite threads on NA bar none and this was my favourite year of competing.

Also to the other competitors. You guys are fuming good. Can't believe I got as far as I did this year with the stiff competition. You're all a fun bunch of characters.

Last shout out to Michael (mbd). While skinny and Brocks rivalry was well-known I always felt you and me had a friendly rivalry too. Definitely my favourite fellow competitor to play against. Our scores were usually quite close especially near the end of the year. It was fun sharing tips in PM too (you won't see skinny doing that). Congrats on making it to the finals with some expert bluffing in round 2!

Thanks. I wish I could have been better competition in Adventure Island, but that is one hard game. At least my score would have gotten me first place in the 2011 contest. http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=31&threadid=49227

Eh, we only got 1 season.

  • The contests are great! Thanks bimmy and guil for keeping them going

Legendary Wings is really easy, I agree (as long as you don't end up getting stuck in a wall at some point). What disappointed you about it, if I may ask? It is still a good shooter with awesome music, albeit a bit repetitive with the dragons and palaces.
  • Huge shout out to both.
