NES Power Pad Question

I picked this up at the waterfront mission today for $3. I know it's not a pad that would have been bought off the shelf (it's not the normal fancy box), so I'm guessing this is the box that would have come inside one of the newer NES bundles that included the power pad? Is that a fair assumption?

  • Yup. At least I think it is. That's the same box I had, and as far as I know it was packed in with a console.
  • Yeah, that came with the Power Set, and it's much more common than the retail box that was packed the stand-alone WCTM.
  • They also released this outside of the Power Set:

Yes, but the box he bought, was a pack-in with the power set, as Dr. Morbis pointed out.
  • I know, I was just pointing out that you could also obtain the Power Pad outside of the Power Set image
  • Cool, thanks guys. image
  • I have an extra one of these boxed for the power set if anyone is intereseted.
  • Dont forget about the family Fun Fitness Padimage

(sorry, I really need to take a seperate picture of that)
  • No, I think you guys are wrong. It came from inside of a power set.

That's what we concluded, isn't it?
  • lol, yeah, was just messing around
  • I am pretty sure it came from inside a power set (oh wait, did somebody already say that) image

  • No, no you guys, I think NGD has hit the nail on the head
  • Speaking of the power pad, are any of the power pad games any fun.  I have several, but do not own a pad, so I can't play them.

I have Street Cop, World Class Track Meet, and Super Team Games

My inlaws have one, but my personal insecurity and low self esteem prevent me from hooking it up and jumping around in their living room during a visit.

  • ^ Yeah, at least one of the games is fun, I think it's called Eggsplode. It's the game on the Short Order/Eggsplode cart where bombs and eggs keep popping up and you have to step on the bombs before they explode, while avoiding the eggs. It's basically "Whack-a-Mole," but for your feet instead of your hands (unless you like cheating image ). I played it at Wizard's house right before we played Super Team Games, wherein Mike (AKA "Mr. Out of Shape Man") played so deplorably that he got TIMED OUT for taking longer than the 10 minutes or so alotted for finishing the race. He actually got booted out of the race by the game! Man, I hadn't laughed that hard in a while. Actually... that's not true: some time later he was showing me how to play the Wii and the game rated him as a 64 year old based on his performance. Ah, good times - good times!
  • That's the most physical activity I've had in years...well, not counting...nevermind image
  • To far ^^ image

  • The only one I have so far is Athletic World, and it's... all right. It's definitely one of the more fitness-oriented programs rather than a pure game. There's no multiplayer or competition mode. You basically participate in a series of five events and it grades you based on your performance, age, and gender (it asks you for this information at the beginning).

It's pretty tough. I'm in middling shape and I haven't been able to get above a B grade in Beginner mode yet. I had been working at it before I moved at the end of May, but haven't picked it up since.

I also played World Class Track Meet as a kid, but don't remember much beyond people banging on the mat with their hands as fast as they can.
