Slalom, am I the only person who really likes it?
I never read or hear anyone talk about the game but I've always been pretty fond of it. I'm not calling it a 10/10 type of game, but I really think it was pretty damn good for being developed in 1986 and released in '87. If I'm not mistaken it came out simultaneously with Pro Wrestling as the two final black box games, at least I remember seeing both advertised in an ad together as new games when I was 5 and never noticing another black box release beyond that. I know Mach Rider simulated 3D action before it, but I find this game far more polished with much better gameplay and I never notice anyone give it kudos.
For such a concise and arcadey game I think its challenge gives it solid replay value for such an early game, and even if you manage to master all three mountains you can always shoot for shorter track times. With smooth gameplay, fairly advanced graphics, cool tunes by David Wise and nice presentation I just never could understand how this one got largely lost in the collective narrative of NES memories.

not sure there were any other skiing games were there?
Maybe the ski jump in Winter Games.
Activision Skiing for Atari 2600.
Boy now we are going backwards
I remeber that game also, starting to feel the skiing community may be an underseved gaming market

now we're talking! Very enjoyable game.
As for slalom, I havent played it in years. I think it was once on an emulator, don't remember much about it. But I'd like to revisit it sometime. A lot of the black box games are really good
I forgot about Ski or Die.
Probably my favorite winter sports game on the system.
There is also Heavy Shreddin for nes.
Never played it, but it seems to be super common. My brother tells me it was made by Rareware / Tradewest. They definitely had some of the best coding talent on NES.
Yup rare made this game and I have always enjoyed it. Rare made a ton of nes games like Narc for Acclaim it really is crazy how many games they made.

When I was a kid, my next door neighbors had Slalom, Kid Icarus, and Bubble Bobble. I borrowed them all the time. Slalom is great, though I haven't played it in a while.
solid chunk of games right there. I wouldn't have been bored at his house
Monster Run can go suck a dick
Wait. That was ski free. Nevermind.
I love Slalom, even though I broke one controller trying to finish Mt. Nasty. Still never finished it
Monster Run can go suck a dick
I beat Slalom for the "Can NA beat every NES game in a year thread" and I swear I spent an entire day on that stupid mountain alone.
I just remembered this old, old, old windows game i think was called SkiFree. You could go off in the trees and get eaten by an abominable snow monster or something. I would file it under skiing/survival horror ...
^ Loved that game, I used to play it for hours and I was super good at it.

We were still playing that in the computer lab by 2005, the yeti used to make me laugh so hard my sides would hurt
