Where To Start Fire Emblem?

I have never played a fire emblem game before, and the only tactics game I've ever finished is Rhapsody, so I am far from an expert in the genre. That being said, which 3DS game would you recommend me to start?

    Awakening. While I really liked Fates (#TeamHoshido here), I believe Awakening to be more accommodating to newcomers to the series. No worries about who to side with, no ridiculous leap in difficulty 2/3 into the game, and only a select few of the characters are creepy. Sure, Fates got rid of the expendable weapons (only healing items run out), but I prefer Awakening.

    The first Fire Emblem on NES was a real stinker. That's definitely one area in the early 90's where Sega had the advantage over the Big N (with Shining Force). However, I hear nothing but good about the later ones. Not sure if the DS remake of the debut is any better than the others, but I'm told the GBA ones were great. Let us know more about the new ones and how they fare.

    Awakening. Fates was hard as balls! But really, I'd start with fire emblem sacred stones on the GBA.



    Now if you want some other tactical strategy games, I'd recommend

    Advance Wars Dual Strike

    Drone Tactics





    Drone tactics is quite different from any other tactics game I've played. It's very very good. Definitely check it out.
