Injecting a Turkey

My parents bought a turkey for me to fry this year.  I've done that once before a few years ago, it turned out great so I think I'll be able to figure it out as I go.  But I didn't get the turkey in time to brine it like I did before.  So I injected it with a butter/roasted garlic sauce.  I've never done it before.  Hoping it will turn out good since I'm in charge of the main course.  I injected the breast, wings and thighs in mulitple spots through the same hole in each.  I poured the rest over it and in the cavity.  Does it sound like I did it right?  Is over night long enough for it to marinade?  I think I did it they way I should have but I guess the pressure of being the turkey cook has me worried.

  • I'd say you're fine, but if you already did all of this I'm not sure what help we can be for you now! Frying it should turn out well as long as you follow proper cooking instructions.

I have always baked my turkeys and put herbs and butter under the skin and it turns out great!
  • Back in my day, we ATE the Turkey. Never knew injecting it was an option.

In all seriousness, that sounds pretty good.
  • You always remember your first!
  • You haven't lived until you've injected meat. Your life will be changed.

    Tell me about it!
  • I injected a turkey once... We only eat ham now.
  • The turkey turned out pretty good. It was moist of course, but the flavor from the marinade was inconsistent. I guess I shoulda stuck it more times. I still prefer to brine it for a couple days. But I got genuine props all around for my work.
