Tim Horton's

Tim Horton's just opened a new location near the University of Minnesota.

The Game Grumps are appearing at the U Saturday night, and we have tickets to go. I want to stop and check it out, since there are only 3 in the state and none are within reasonable driving distance.

What should I be order? I'd like to keep it cheap and small since I want to check out some local food before/after the show.

  • You want coffee or food? Breakfast or lunch? Is the menu even the same as Canada?
  • Really jealous about the game grumps. Wanted to go in Boston but can't sit still from surgery :/

    Hope it's a good show.
  • If you go before Noon get the "Bagle B.E.L.T" it is delicious.

If you are wanting a lunch get the Extreme Italian.

If you don't want a sandwich get a Chili.

If you like coffee get a Large double double. (This is actually pretty necessary..."double-doubles" are big up here.)

If they don't have any of those then I don't know what the fuck to tell you.

Most of the sandwiches are good IMO but it honestly just depends on the staff, we have 4-5 Tim Hortons here in town and the food changes depending on where you go unfortunately.
  • Must be a northern thing since I've never heard of Tim Horton's.

the extreme Italian is fantastic, also a fan of the turkey bacon club. I'll add that I wouldn't recommend getting a donut unless you see them bringing a fresh tray out, they are good then, but otherwise not so much.

sure is. There's one on every corner here. I pass by like four of them on my ten minute drive to work
  • After tim hortons stopped baking donuts in house the quality has deteriated obviously.

    Basically the Canadian Starbucks.

And it's named after a hockey player, because of course it is.

(Yes, I know he founded it.)

It's a Canadian thing, but Minnesota is basically Canada so it's okay to have one (or 3) here.

  • Get some of their doughnut holes, it's the shit

Yeah that and when they started expanding their menu....I find they need to go back to the basics and remember why they were good in the first place.

He won 4 Cups with them so I guess it's not all bad.

  • You should definitely get an Apple Fritter and an Iced Capp. You'll thank me later

    Oh yeah.

We love Canada, probably because we don't play them in college hockey.
  • Dude order what you like to eat. Why are you asking an online forum what you should order?

As far as I know it is.

Anyway, coffee/light snack. I'm planning on getting a burger before the show, so I don't want to stuff myself.

French Vanilla's are good, but very sweet so if you're not into that definitely a bad idea. Coffee I go with a double double personally, that's pretty standard. Iced Capps are good if you want something cold, I'll sometimes add a caramel flavor shot to mine. If you're not big on coffee I'd recommend the iced Capps, I know lots of people who love them and don't like coffee

For a light snack they have a maple pecan Danish thats quite good, various different kinds of timbits(donut holes) you can get a box of ten and mix and match flavors. The frosted cinnamon buns are good too, but rather large.

I was wondering what donut holes were. Now I know, that they are timbits.
  • Okay, first I've never heard of Tim Horton, now it's timbits.

Gosh, if I ever go to Canada, I'll be lost for sure. lol
  • I know Rochester, NY has a few Tim Horton's. And I've seen one in downtown Columbus, OH.
  • Ice Capps are amazing. I hate their regular coffee but their dark roast isn't bad. They have banana bread muffins now and they're pretty good.

Oh and make sure to snag a box of Timbits on the way out.

Tim Horton's is likely the most common business in Canada, there's a Tim Horton's on every corner of every even sort of suburban area in the country. It's a lot like Dunkin' Donuts, but much, much more common in Canada than DD is in the US. In some places they are across the street from each other.

The menu is different, but more importantly, the ingredients are different. American Tim Hortons would taste completely unfamiliar to you. It was like being in the Bizarro Seinfeld episode when I first went to American "Tim Horton's".

did you get the banana bread timbits over there? Those were the shit, until they stopped selling them
