How my modding on SEGA MD 1s has improved over the years.

It's funny, I never honestly saw myself going to the modding route in life at first, everything looked complicated but it always had a small interest on me at least with the model 1 Sega Genesis. When I decided to begin modding myself, I missed up badly by doing things like using oversize wires, getting solder everywhere around the board, burning things for not cleaning my soldering iron properly. I eventually though started understanding the process, the patients and the proper tools needed to start correctly.

I've forgotten that this stuff is pretty fun for me, so I decided to return to modding model 1s AND Nomads no less.

I like to share my 3 m1 MDS that I have put time and effort and carefully modding.

These 3 Sega Genesis model - 1s are non-TMSS, overclocked, region free and have optional s-video/av/stereo on the back.

This is the 2nd Sega Genesis I modded around 4 - 5 years and I thought I did a good job back then, lol, it's a shame I don't have images of the 1st model 1 I modded anymore because when I worked on the 2nd one. I thought I did a MUCH better job than the 1st one.

Don't worry though, my work looks like this now.

Anyways just wanted to share my work here, I like to come back and start modding model 1s again. If you guys are ever interested in upgrading your model 1s, hit me with a pm.

  • I like that protruding s-video port, nice and solid.

Have you considered using an array or LED strips instead of single LED'S? This way you could illuminate the entire red section for the power light.

Thanks, I'm not too fancy with Many LEDS. I had a spare blue laying around so I just connected it below the original LED spots.
