The non-Videogame art illustration thread
While I mainly collect Videogame artwork I also collect other illustration artwork. If you collect artwork or if you see any interesting illustration artwork in the news post it here. So others (mostly me) can enjoy.
I'll start art off with 3 non-Videogame illustrations by Greg Martin.

Whoa dude. These are awesome.
I haven't thought about these toys in YEARS. I remember the hologram on the guys chest being ultra badass.
I wouldn't know anything about the miniatures, but I've heard of people asking before, so I think there would be good demand and little if any supply there.
I had never heard of heroquest, just googled the board game, great illustration! Unfortunately no. Milton Bradley was like "responsible" or something in protecting their properties and never let any art out.

Dan is right in that Milton Bradley was very strict with their art but I did manage to grab this board game cover illustration.
Here I am breaking my own rule but since it is a board game I'll let myself slide on this one.
I don't have pictures of the non game stuff as handy but I guess I will play too. Here's a Snow White by the amazing Tom Dubois (everyone's favorite konami artist). Also I am a big fan of Groo/ Sergio Aragones and have the art for the 21st issue. You've seen these before Adam so old hat for you but maybe someone else will enjoy.
As you already know I'm so jealous of these awesome items. I have some Mighty Magnor comic artwork done by Sergio Aragones but no Groo illustrations. Oh well one of these days......
I guess I technically own a lot of his art on vinyl record covers or gatefolds....
Anyone have any pinball art?
I have a couple things that I can think of. One is a George Opperman Atari Superman piece done for an ad in Replay Magazine. No picture on hand but it is pictured in the Atari of Atari book that just came out. This was the only George Opperman piece that I was able to track down. Spy Hunter which was used for the NES cover and the pinball backlash.

Very cool. Spy Hunter made for a much better NES game than it did a Pinball machine, that's for sure. It had such an odd layout (similar to Golden Wings). The artwork was great though.

B=A - What happened to all the original artworks?
TD - I certainly wish I made more of an effort to keep all the original art. Unfortunately, my rep at the time didn’t get most of them back to me like I asked him to. I know Konami and Michael Meyers kept some. What I did retrieve I sent to a collector from Canada who tracked me down. In return he sent me a new computer!
Hmm...I wonder who that was?

I wonder if there is any connection...
thanks Jone. Unrelated note as I don't own any but have always liked and kinda wanted a Gil Elvgren (50s pinup artist). I can't afford it, but I really like this one.

Ive lucked out getting some nice calendar art

Unfortunately I only received a tiny portion of what he had done. He had already thrown out almost all of the drawings he had simply to make space in storage, which is sad. I wish he had phrased differently re the purchase price (he chose a specific model computer instead of cash, at his request. It reads like he got a broken laptop but oh well.).
Here is some movie art.
And here is an early Turtles ad. I wanted an early Turtles piece drawn by the creators with all 4 Turtles. The beer was a bonus.
Too bad all the art at Konami was destroyed as well.

I can support anything involving Tim Curry, so I was able to figure out that is the original art for Pass the Ammo.
What are the other 2 movies?

Man, I don't remember. I think the one is a Tales from the Darkside cover?
What pinball are you into? I find myself a little more interested in it than in the past.
Big fan of Arabian Nights and Circus Voltaire.

Heroquest is unusual in that it's a niche (at the time) game studio (Games Workshop along with Citadel Miniatures) teaming up with Milton Bradley for mass production and distribution.
Basically, it was a $20 (at the time) boardgame to get kids hooked on miniature-based dungeon crawling so they could sell you Advanced Heroquest (and later Warhammer Quest) for $80, plus the tons of supplemental miniatures and materials for the Warhammer Fantasy world.
Something similar happened with Space Crusade (though I don't know if I ever saw that one at Toys R Us, and it certainly never had the memorable commercial spot like Heroquest).
Space Crusade is basically a sanitized kid version of Space Hulk. (which is more-or-less Aliens-the-boardgame in the Warhammer 40k universe).
Given that heritage, it makes me wonder who actually controlled all of the assets for Heroquest, since it uses a lot of Games Workshop's artists (who also did illustrations for the Lone Wolf series of game books).
Though Joe Dever (the author of Lone Wolf) died a few days ago, so I'd imagine all of the artwork associated with any of that stuff is going crazy if any of it is available.

JPop stuff, huh?
His art direction is some of the best in the history of Pinball. His business ethics.... Not so much.
His stuff is fairly obtainable and super affordable.
