Shadow Madness (PS1)
This is an RPG for PS1 by Ted Woolsey, the guy who translated the SNES FF games. It has a western look but JRPG mechanic. And does the 3D on prerendered backgrounds thing like FF7. It got panned somewhat during its heydey for having blocky characters and being too easy, but honestly, it's a pretty good game, mostly for the story and dialogue. There's plenty of humor and some character development and the dialogue doesn't sound stilted like most Japanese RPGs would because it's done natively in english. Some memorable scenes too like the showdown in the western village and such. It was among my 'best of the worst' nominees for games that were misunderstood and unfairly panned. Did anyone else play it and enjoy the game?
