I don't really see the point. Although not as dumb as filling your collection with fakes/repros because you can't afford it, I still don't see the point of substituting something that isn't part of the set and pretending it belongs in there. But a lot of pretending and playing make believe already goes on this hobby so whatever.
The peggster has a good point.
Why pretend? If you buy fami carts to pretend you are collecting nes, just say you collect famicom then I guess?
Collecting high end expensive games isn't about price, Its about getting what you want, because you have enough disposable income.
What both of you saying are only applies to those who are after a complete nes set or something of that sort and are claiming crap. I'm not after that. Just have my own kind of nes collection and would collect famicom independently.
As mentioned, if I ever decide to collect the famicom I would get the essentials, gems and substitute a few of those nes high priced games. Not just substitute those high priced games.

That's fine, but most consider them separate sets and don't mix and match like you said in your original post. A Ducktales 2 Famicom is considered a different game from Ducktales 2 nes by most here I would reckon. At least for collecting.
Playing, sure, they're the same, but again, flashcart.
Only thing is, NA can be North America or NintendoAge. But by context even that should be pretty clear.
Most users on NintendoAge are USA citizens. As a Canadian, I have no problem using USA to denote games that are often sold up here with no significant changes.

I mean you're asking if its better. Better for what?
Your budget? Yes.
Starting a Famicom collection? Yes.
Collecting NES? No.
Playing the games? No.
We really need a PSA on NTSC vs NA. Even I'm starting to cringe lately with the gross misuse and I'm pretty laid back.
Yeah, seriously. NTSC is Famicom, too, people.

If you want to, go for it. It is your collection.

It's YOUR collection. You're the boss. You shouldn't care what other people think of it as long as you're happy with it.
In the end it's about haing fun. Not bragging, not pretending. You're not competing in a contest.
