  • Yeah, I just have an R4 card for my DS. So far it seems the 8 bit and 16 bit emulation on the Wii is spot on. I have tried the SMS, Mega Drive, NES and SNES emus. I am curious to try the NEO-GEO stuff next. Does anyone know if the Wii can play arcade games via EMU? Like MAME or something. I wanna play the original Killer Instinct.
  • Whenever Wii U hacking gets off the ground, that would provide an excellent hardware platform for DS emulation. The console should be plenty powerful enough and the main controller has a touch screen, in conjunction with the TV screen.

In case anyone asks or did ask, the virtual Wii mode in the Wii U is a misnomer. It's not a virtualization like on a Windows PC, the Wii U literally runs the original Wii system menu software, because at it's core, it's a Wii. The best part is the Wii cannot be a Wii unless it has the Gamecube at its core as it was built directly on top. The Wii U is a Wii is a Gamecube.

In the coming years, the Wii U will become extremely desirable for its ROM box and universal Nintendo emulation capabilities. It's entirely possible with the Wii U's power, it could emulate or natively run games from every past Nintendo system. NES, Game Boy, SNES, Virtual Boy, N64, Game Boy Color, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, DS, Wii, maybe DSi...

It's gonna happen, just a matter of time...

Very interesting and promising.  The vWii side of it is fully hacked already.  Now we are just wating fot the WiiU side of it to be hacked.  Then the games will truly begin.
