Halloween is my favorite holiday; then Christmas comes and I have to buy people meaningless shit so they can buy me meaningless shit. And it has to be like 2 months long.

Depends on what you expect to get out of christmas and how your family celebrates it.
Christmas is my absolute favorite. We do a christmas eve party, and dinner on christmas and it is the best.
As for gifts, we don't really do gifts anymore now that everyone is grown up. That is a recent thing though, but i have to say it is very liberating realizing it isn't about gifts and it takes the stress off so you can just enjoy time with your family.
BUT i do understand why it can be annoying to watch everyone go around like robots freaking out about sales and what they NEED to buy for christmas and just finding ways to spend all their money. The lines, the traffic, the absolute horrible behavior from people, the annoying commercials shoving the idea that you need to go shopping.
I don't even care about the presents as I've gotten older (other than giving them to my children), I just like the whole atmosphere. The music, the movies, seeing Santa, setting up a tree, etc.
Actually I don't hate Christmas, I just hate the overcommercialization of Christmas.
Yep, pretty much this all the way. I absolutely despise walking into stores in October and seeing a shitload of Christmas decorations and stuff for sale. Also all those horrendous made-for-tv movies. My parents are addicted to them, yet every time I even hear one of those "films", I want to slam my skull into mush.
But during December? You better believe I'm blaring all the christmas radio stations and decorating everything.
Christmas is usually my favorite time of the year. I've been a little lackluster the last few years and havnt really gone to my big family gathering but i usually always at least try and make it to my moms to spend my birthday and christmas with her and my brother. I think i just havnt been into the larger family gatherings as much cuz everyone is getting weirder and im getting older and grumpier and getting tired of answering the same questions, but i still enjoy getting people stuff!
Nov-Dec are the worst months in my business and I am glad when the holidays are over and January begins because funds are tight. I do still enjoy Christmas though. Nothing tops spending time with the wife and kids and eating ALOT...

"What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"

Bah humbug!

I do enjoy seeing the joy in my daughter's face when she opens her presents though. That's the highlight for me.

The one thing I truly despise are holiday car commercials. What kinda jackass asks for a Lexus for Christmas?
