Rogue One

I really liked it actually.  It kept me pretty entertained most of the time with very few lulls in the action and story.  Lots of throwbacks to the older films with excellent facial work on some of the characters.  Definitely worth seeing.

  • I'm going Sunday probably. I'm excited
  • I'm not going to see it. At this point I just want Star Wars to die with what little dignity it has left. I'd love for it to continue as a series of books, comics, video games, etc like in the 90's. But seriously, there hasn't been a good Star Wars movie since 1983. Be honest with yourself. I know the first 3 are some of the greatest most important films of all time and I know we'd all like more but take off your nostalgia goggles for a minute and look at the new movies objectively. The prequels sucked. It took a long time for people to admit that to themselves. Everyone pretended they were great at first. Now everyone acts like they knew they were bad all along. Episode 7 sucked. Again, like the prequels everyone defended it at first it but slowly but surely people are beginning to admit that it sucked. This new one, I haven't seen it but the trailer looks like absolute caca and I'm pretty sure it sucks. There's a pattern here. I don't need to waste my money to find out if it sucks because every star wars movie for the last 17 years has sucked. If you want more good Star Wars go back and read the Thrawn trilogy or play Dark Forces or something. There's a whole universe of Star Wars books and games that are great but aside from the original unaltered trilogy the movies are just awful. Just my two cents.
  • I had the chance to see it yesterday in a half full room (seat buffers on each side
  • My son went to see it tonight and really enjoyed it. He's 17 and has as little to do with his old man as possible, but he actually called me after the movie to tell me it was worth watching. Based on that recommendation, I will be seeing it.
  • I haven't seen it just yet, although I am very excited to. My brother is coming over to visit me and my family on Tuesday and I'm gonna be seeing it with him and the rest of my family in an Omnimax theater located in the Saint Louis science center   (For those who don't know what an omnimax or "dome" theater is: http://www.carnegiesciencecenter.org/images/page_main/omnimax_1.jpg )
  • Saw it last night at 7, and thought it was amazing! I really hope the other stand alone movies tie in just as well to the originals as this one!
  • I am waiting for a local theatre to have some dignity and offer a 2D screening of it.

I do love me some Star Wars, but no film is worth several days of very painful migraines because stupid 3D screenings.
  • Great movie.

It was nice to see them shed some old traditions and show us what these new stand alone movies will be like (no scrolling text prolog omg!)

Plenty of throw backs (peter Cushing wow)

Great expansion of the sw universe.

    A1. Go see it.

I'm going to the stl area for xmas and hadn't even thought of seeing it at the omnimax. Thank you, sir. Pure genius. My brother is a die hard star wars guy and he thought it was great. From a purist who would look for any reason to hate it, that's says a lot.
  • Really good movie all around. Wasnt sure how the stand alone story would work but they did it perfectly. Nice little cameos by some episode 4 characters as well

Took my daughter opening night, she likes to watch star wars with dad

    Raise the younglings right !!

  • I'm apparently the only one in the world galaxy who was disappointed.

    Ah well.
  • Movie was awesome

    Such satisfying vader
  • At the theatre right now. Starting in 10 minutes!
  • Really well done. Just finished watching it earlier today. Enjoyed it thoroughly, the dark tone was utterly appropriate.

I also feel that they used vader perfectly , how awesome was that castle

  • I really enjoyed it, I thought it would be only ok like 7, but it was a really good movie
  • Meh.

On the other hand the power rangers trailer actually looks good
  • I lost interest in Star wars along time ago.
  • Loved it. It had great action and humor. It felt very true to Star Wars. I believe I prefer Rogue One to The Force Awakens. It felt more free; less constrained to the rules of the saga. It also has a dark quality similar to Empire.

Plus plenty of Storm Troopers! Gonna have to go to a throwback avatar in tribute.
  • Loved it. It struck the right level of action, character development, humor, fan service. Will see it again in the theatre. Interested to see what they do with the other announced stand alone movie about Han.

This is exactly why the movie is so great. Much better than TFA.  I'd put it up there in quality with the original trilogy.

I wish there were more Vader. That final scene was only like 3 min. I could watch a full hr of that and be entertained, lol. What a badass.

I was hesitant to say so, but I'm leaning that way. It's pretty heavy thematically and very satisfying.
  • I liked it better than Ep7 straight from the theater , But Ep. 7 grew on me the more times i watched it.

Alot of action in this movie, the theater i saw it in was really loud, did anyone else notice it was unusually high volume or did my theater just have the sound cranked up.

The theater I went to had the volume cranked during previews of iMax and turned down a bit for the movie
  • Just got out of the theatre. I thought it was awesome. Much more depth than TFA. Darth Vader was perfect IMO. That final scene when he comes out of the dark and annihilates the rebels gave me a hard on. Best line is when he force chokes Krennic and says something like don't choke on your aspirations. Lol! 2 thumbs up!

In the context of the story, I think they used Vader just right. Really, the story didn't involve him until the very end. It would've come off as generic fan service if he were in the movie more than he was, IMO. It would've taken away from the film's active antagonists, as he would've eclipsed whatever they were doing.

I'm honestly just a bit confused as to why the majority of footage used in the trailers and marketing never actually showed up in the movie. Like, Jyn Erso facing down a TIE Fighter. Never happened. No Rebel pilot captives on Jedah, either.
  • I didn't read any posts in here except the OP.

I went to see TFA the weekend it opened and really enjoyed it. With Rogue One I'm waiting to watch it on 4K Blu-ray or Blu-ray because it's a spin off/prequel? and not a main movie. I've been hearing positive feedback from everyone though.

I love them, and watch redlettermedia all the time. The beginning of this video was pretty damn hilarious

But there opinion of the movie, I completely disagree with. They dont really like star wars in the first place so there opinion is taken with a grain of salt from me. I just totally disagree with a majority of their points. I loved the last act of this movie, and the ending was badass. Other than the r2d2 c3po part as far as fan service, I didnt feel like any of it was really weird or forced. Dude couldnt be anymore wrong about the last 5 minutes imo. Again they dont really care for star wars, so I get their opinion, just dont agree with it.

They are one of the few youtube channels that went this hard on the movie. Most people who like star wars, like this movie.
