This is a big reason I don't visit Facebook often. Come on people give it up! Don't you know that there are rare games to be found ?

Sounds like me too.  I just had to scroll past all of the political posts and thank god the election is over.

Ultimately, you either delete facebook or learn to scroll past the annoying posts.  It's really that simple, one or the other, and don't let the negative stuff get to you.
  • This is why I've never even considered using any kind of social media like facebook or twitter
  • I just unfollow people who start getting annoying on my news feed. I honestly think I have unfollowed everyone on my page. This way we are still friends and they not annoyed I unfriended them lol. I like using facebook for news and being part of a few retro game groups. They sometimes have their uses and I have made lots of local trades this way.
  • Eh fuck farceberk. If I want to be annoyed by people's bullshit I'll just go outside.
  • I had Facebook for a bit but deleted it for 4 years or so......One of my good friends had killed themselves who I was not in contact with for a couple years and always wanted to get together.

I made a new Facebook after that for that reason exactly, there was no way I was keeping my old one with all those types of people in there, I just have close friends and family...Oh and a couple cocksuckers from here too.

Wouldnt just using email solve this whole problem?

    That requires actual effort.

After reading this thread it just cements the idea that never getting a facebook profile was one of the best decisions i ever made.

Also i noticed from my own ovservations with my friends is that since they all communicate through facebook all of the time, they have nothing to talk about when they get together because everyones knows everything already. Wheres the fun in that? I have a much better time meeting up every so often and carching up with stories then reading a stupid blurb on the internet. It makes the times you do see people more memorable.

  • Just get FB Purity and block keywords. When something I really don't care about hits the news I add a word to my list and never see it, like "Kaepernick".

Yeah, I think I unfollowed a record amount of people this year because of that.   A random opinion or two is fine, but when that shit's clogging my feed out ya go.

  • People still use Facebook?   I predict it will follow the same path as MySpace sooner or later. Yeah,it's still around but I don't ever hear anyone ever talk about it or even use it anymore.
  • In response to OP I dont really have that problem because pretty much all of my Facebook friends I know in real life and most of them aren't active or when they are active share a bunch of entertainment videos only. There's like one friend I have on there who whines a lot but it's very vague. You have no idea what he really whines about its more "my life sucks" and that's it haha. There usually isn't a lot of drama. Whenever there is someone who pisses me off consistently il just unfollow and that's pretty much all you can do. Your Facebook feed should be way less annoying now that you unfollowing this particular person.

Usually political posts are pretty rare outside of election year. In 2017 on Facebook those posts should be far less frequent for that reason. When they are posted it just depends on the content.

Is this person posting reasonable, objective, and thought provoking political content? If so I have no problem with you. Or is this person bashing people with a differing opinion or political affiliation? Most of the time, unfortunately, it is the latter. These people have no business clogging up my Facebook feed.

I don't care if it's A or B; if I'm seeing a glut of it out they go.  (I've never really given two shits about politics, so maybe that's why.)

I'd dump it altogether, but it's a great way to keep in touch with my out of town cousins and friends, see how the kiddos are, what oddball beers have been released, etc.

What do you do when those same relatives and such post political stuff?
  • I've had to trim the fat on FB quite a bit lately. Negative people gone. Political stuff gone. Even as a Christian I'm sick of the posts saying you need to like and share if you believe in Jesus, all those people are gone. There were also a few female friends or family that would post stuff like "Having a bad day..." or "I'm so tired of life..." and they just sit back and wait for everyone to come to their rescue with lots of attention and encouragement. I'm sick of that crap and have no tolerance for it anymore.

Any of the ones I give a shit about don't post that stuff anyway, and the few other relatives that do just end up unfollowed because it's the super conspiracy theorist crap.

Nothing drives me more crazy than the "like and share if you agree with this" posts. Or even worse are the long dramatic rants that end in "don't share this, copy and paste it." It gets old real quick.

It's funny because they truly believe they have the inside scoop on the internet because they watch Infowars and stuff like that. They believe they are serious insiders who know stuff we don't.
  • Facebook is a place where many people proudly post their mistakes, and then later complain about the consequences when it must have been obvious to anyone reading.

For example a girl I know she keeps falling in love with complete jerks, she's really happy, it's been 2 days and she found the guy, and it's obvious when you just look at what the guy looks like that he's more into a weekend of humping than anything else!

Well guess what, a few days later she's heart broken...

Or those you know have no money at all and buy a new car (or replace with a huge TV, a trip to Cuba, a boat, etc.) and proudly show it off on Facebook... and then a few months later complain they don't have enough money to go on vacation or buy school supplies worth $100 for their kids...
