Jeez, Genghis Khan 2 is a long game. I finally beat scenario 1 to unite Mongolia and get to the World Scenario, and now it's basically starting all over with a new game with twice as many territories to conquer.
I got too old and had no successor so the game's over. kill me now
Brutal. How many hours did clearing Scenario 1 take you? No chance you can save scum it by reloading and quickly siring someone?
What I did was reset the game because the World Scenario will still be there, but you start again as a 23 year old Genghis Khan with 15 body points and a 3 yo son already, instead of as the son who only starts with 11 BP who died with no heirs. Those extra 4 BP are the difference between one and two actions per turn.
I hope I can knock it out by tomorrow and move on to the next green game (Liberty or Death).
First three games I literally ran one play on offense and one on defense. Direct snap to Emmitt, and four safeties out of the Dime. I won each game in a blowout
For the Super Bowl I was bored and started looking at some other things. I threw three hail marys, all of which went for TDs. Kinda like Tecmo Super Bowl, if you give the route time, you can throw for infinite distance. And unlike every other football game I know, once you're behind the defense you cannot be caught.
Then on defense I started attacking the receivers to see if there is any PI in this game (I never saw any flags). As far as I know there isn't. So go ahead and disrupt the shit out of their routes
Messed around with Sterling Sharpe for a bit. Couldn't really do anything consistently with the Packers so I moved on to the Cowboys. Won the first playoff game in a blowout running a direct snap out of the shotgun every play, and just sitting in nickel or dime, while also pulling back one of the d-lineman. I tried to run a real defense but they kept beating me over the top with 70-80 yard pass TDs
Lol! I understand all those words but not in that context. Football has always confused me. #hockey4life

That's like me watching the movie Invictus or something
So, the question is, what did I fail to do? Here are the possibilities:
- Didn't become #1 in the world. This is the best possibility since it's easy to fix: if I just win 2-3 more tournaments before skipping to the end, that should suffice.
And thank goodness for small favors, because that's all it took:
International Tennis Tour is done.
As it turns out, all the game cares about is that you reach world #1. In fact, you don't even have to play the Masters tournament in Week 52, so I'm really glad I decided to see what would happen if I skipped it.
Maybe if my ranking had been higher than #6 when I won the Masters in my previous attempt, I would've gotten the win screen instead of this (uploaded for posterity's sake):
The last few tournaments went pretty quickly since I found a new exploit when receiving serve. At least on the grass courts, the bottom of the court wear pattern is symmetrical, with two dots on either side. If you stand in line with the upper one of those dots, and return your opponent's serve by tapping the slice button without otherwise trying to direct the ball, about 75% of the time it'll kiss the net cord and dribble over. Once you get the timing down, it makes your break games go much faster.
I'm so glad the Nations Cup doesn't count and I didn't have to start this from scratch. This also means I've now beaten every SNES tennis game released in the US.
Beating the world scenario as Mongolia is extremely hard as you have five very aggressive neighbors that are unrelenting and there's no difficulty setting in this game. I figured out to play as japan as you start geographically isolated and can build outwards with relative ease. The other trick is to let the computer simulate your battles, as it saves a lot of time and favors the attacker. Overall the computer puts up a surprisingly good fight so I could see a lot of replay value here.
Anyway, on to the next green Koei game - Liberty or Death.
Job well, well done. Safe to say that this, Cal Ripken, and Space Football are amongst the hardest to complete

The good news is that, once you get the ball dynamics down, International Tennis Tour isn't really hard -- just time-consuming and, until now, poorly-documented. Knowing that (a) you can forfeit doubles matches beforehand with the Select button, (b) the game's only goal is apparently reaching world #1, and (c) the strategy/exploit I mentioned earlier will allow you to win 50-75% of return points instantly, I think it'll be a much easier mountain to climb in the future...
...not that I plan to play it again anytime soon -- I surely don't -- but I do want to beat the Genesis version, Davis Cup Tennis, which plays a lot faster (probably failure to optimize for 60Hz) and has some substantial interface refinements and extra bells 'n' whistles.

Awesome!
My wife and I once spent basically a whole weekend playing Genghis Khan II (Genesis version). Once we figured out how it worked, we had a lot of fun, except for the battle sequences which seemed confusing and stacked against us. We only tried the Mongolia scenario, and I think we bailed when she kept getting invaded and the merchant would never visit her territory...
Stargate done. Again. This time I watched a youtube as I went to make sure and get all the collectibles since there was no way I was gonna do it a third time
Fun game too. I think it uses the same engine as Demolition Man, which is another good. Like two of the only good games Acclaim ever made
Lots of very fun games still outstanding. If you haven't played through these, I'd recommend all of these. Most of them are top 100 games on the system. All of them are top 200
Brain Lord
Breath of Fire II
Cybernator
Demon's Crest
EVO
Flintstones TotSM
Harvest Moon
Jetsons
Lost Vikings
Lost Vikings II
Lufia
Lufia II
Metal Marines
Skyblazer
Super Adventure Island II
Super Bonk
Super Turrican 2
Tin Star
Tiny Toons Buster Busts Loose
True Lies
War of the Gems
Wolfenstein 3D
X-Men
And of course I love, love, love Brandish and Dragon View, but those aren't for everyone.
I haven't beaten Sparkster, Metal Warriors, Equinox, Lufia, or Shadowrun myself. I need to knock at least one of those out this year.
Hole in One seems pretty fun. I took a bunch of the golf games for a test drive last year and that one had some of the most promise. I also use to rent Wicked 18 as a kid and have been meaning to revisit that guy
I'll probably go after Flintstones, Jetsons, Bonk, and Tiny Toons soon. I used to play the Tiny Toons games a lot as a kid but never actually beat them. EVO I could probably give a go but it would be a slow work. I need to try to get my Retron fixed so I can play games downstairs again instead of being isolated in my game room. Having my Atari downstairs was a big help in putting time in on the high scores because I was always just right around the corner if I was needed for anything.
It's about not stranding yourself on spikes, which will blow every extra life you have or have stocked up. Which means you'll be stuck on the final boss with what a continue gives you.
Just got most of the way through Operation Logic Bomb. Then some boss near the end of the game wasted my ass and took every single life you get in the game. I had a no-death run to that point. Watched a youtube and he used some weapon I didn't have, so I must of missed something crucial.
Any Final Fantasy other than the 1st one, most j-rpgs (can't stomach them), Simcity 2000 on the SNES because the controls suck and it is freaking slow, Chrono Trigger, both Breath of Fire games...
There must be others, but I can't remember them right now.
I should check that backloggery thingy, but I am kinda lazy.
Edit:
... I have a Backloggery account... from 2010!
Last update was that I was playing Super Pitfall and hadn't completed it!
I will use the weekend to fill it in with most of my games beaten, at least.
I started playing Vortex last night, and my goodness is this game unfair. I've only reached Level 2 but I did complete all the training missions just to get the hang of the game. Stay tuned for updates I guess!

FIFA Soccer 96 is beaten on world tournament, using Germany.
Now onto FIFA Soccer 97.
I guess I should look at the next green game to beat this weekend.
It sucks to be terrible at videogames.

Pro Sport Hockey and having to complete nearly 100 games was pretty bad too
Kirby Super Star done.

I'll probably beat both Lost Vikings game in December if they are still on the board then. Both great games!

I will get it done after I finish Spider-Man.

This was MUCH worse.
Also, do a backloggery so I can pore over it
