I am in....

Without knowing the prices and current market for Nes games, my wife and I started collecting NES games around September 2016 (nostalgic bug ). We were then introduced to the youtube shows like Game Chasers, Pat etc ( via google). Price wise, the market seems to be peaking (we have the worst timing I guess) and with the nes classic edition and youtube shows,it seems like it keeps on increasing. When we find great deals at garage sales/flea markets, I guess it makes it more rewarding (Final Fantasy for $6 felt good). I found this site via google and it looks awesome!

  • Hello! Welcome to NA!
  • Welcome aboard. We have a reputable marketplace here, maybe you can find some things you want from our fine folks!
  • Prices are high now, but they won't be any cheaper. Its a great hobby with lots of good games still in the $10-20 range. There are still deals, but you will have to put the time in to find them.

    Anyway, welcome to the site.
  • It's the best time for fun and communities that share your interest, but the timing for buying gets worse every day. Just enjoy the hunt and the games!

    Welcome!
  • Thanks for all the replies.
  • welcome to the site
  • Welcome to NA mang. Here's a tip: Buy lots, sell what you have and keep the rest, you'll easily get the dirt commons that way. Plus there are some pretty fun ones in that category *cough*dragonspirit*cough*bumpnjump*cough*

Personally I'm jelly of that $6 Final Fantasy. I've been collecting since 2000 and have never had the chance to nab it for under $25.

And OP if you like RPGs you have to keep an eye out for Willow and Magic of Scheherazade. Both super cheap, super fun titles.
  • There's never a bad time to enjoy Nintendo.

    Welcome.
  • Welcome to NA!

Focus on the deals; ask members! Everyone here hooks you up real nice!
  • Price is supply vs demand. The supply (of original games) is actually shrinking. Repros and NES Classic don't count, because they are 'new', thus less collectable.

Demand may go up or down, but the 'cool' factor of having an NES collection (I think) is worth the risk.

I second this. Don't pay more than the games/console/accessories are worth. Some items are just overpriced in the current market. If you're dying to play a game, buy a usb controller and play on a PC. Wait patiently, and you'll score some sweet deals which will make enjoying your gaming gear that much better. And remember that eBay and Amazon cost the seller so that always increases prices over trading on NA.
  • Welcome!
  • Thanks a lot everyone! (I have a newbie tip, maybe it's known here)

A way to get good NES deals at G---stop.com....Save 36% (sometimes more with 2 for 1 deals).

    - G stop Pro members save 10%

    - cag16 code at checkout saves 16%

    - Giftcard disocounts (ex giftcardgranny) around 10%

    - SAVER code at checkout (free shipping on 24.99+ purchase)

I did this (actually my wife did) for christmas for me and it worked great. Codes still seem to be eligible and at the time of purchase, it worked. The quality of games were surprisingly awesome. (mike Tyson, bionic commando, batman, super maro 2, contra, ninja gaiden).
  • Welcome to NA!
  • Welcome to NA! There's still a few deals to be had out there, they're just harder to come by these days
  • Enjoy every BIT of it.
  • Nice to see some fresh enthusiasm. Welcome aboard!
  • Hi there! I'm new here as well

And yeah, hunting is a little harder these days but every once in a while I stumble upon a decent deal at a used place (nothing crazy though, unfortunately) so it's still possible! Good luck adding to your collection!
  • Welcome to NintendoAge!
  • Welcome to NintendoAge!
  • Welcome to NA!
  • welcome to the forum ....

i would say there might be deal(s) still out there w/ individual(s) not knowing at what they have

best time to start is sooner than later ... imo
  • Welcome! If there's anything I've learned from collecting over the years it's that prices can change at any time. Prices on certain games jump up a few notches in days, and sometimes game values can drop. It's consistent yet volatile at the same time. Personally I stopped comparing prices to what they used to be. Games will never be as cheap as they were 5+ years ago. But when I want a game I ask myself if the price it's going for it worth it to me. If yes, then I buy it. I wanted Chrono Trigger on SNES. It went for $100+ a year ago. It's a lot of money for any one game. But I really wanted it, so the $100+ I spent on it was worth it to me. Sure a couple of years ago it was probably like a $50-60 game but who knows, it could be a $200+ game in a few years. You can't go backwards in time so strike while the iron's lukewarm before it gets cold
