Haven't seen instructions on how to disassemble the whole kiosk, but have taken the 2 I have completely apart a total of 3 times now.

You start with taking the tv bezel and monitor off which you need T20 security bit to remove. from there you remove the metal side covers (phillips wood screws). Then you remove the front side plastic covers by unscrewing (phillips screw will nut) from inside the cabinet. From there you remove the particleboard assembly by unbolting it from the metal frame (phillips bolts on backside). Then you can unscrew the phillips wood screws in the L-brackets holding the particleboard assembly together. This will leave the base with the bottom plastic cover, the cabinet, and the metal frame still attached. If you want to disassemble past this point, I can help, but this will get you most of the way there. I have a meeting a I have to run to.

    Thanks!

TV bezel is the white plastic piece that covers the frame of the TV and helps mount the TV to the kiosk, which you have. The model number is typically found on a sticker under the gamepad rubber rest. You can see it in several of the pics people posted.

And thanks for the details summary... makes updating the chart a ton easier!

I will need to clean it good and re-wire it as they unhooked all the wires but look forward to getting it working.

    Congrats on the find.

I disasembled much of my cabinet to get it clean. Its amazing how much dust was not only inside but in little nooks and crannies you wouldnt expect to get dirty.

Hint: When it comes to the white plastic a magic eraser is your friend. I wet mine with isopropyl instead of water.

Magic eraser wetted with Simple Green works wonders on cleaning and wont hurt the paint (as long as you dont go hog wild on it). Also will remove most scuffs and paint transfer from the blue cabinet or metal trim/cover pieces.

This is not completely true. The DC inputs into the box which branches off to each connector. Each of the branches (traces/circuits) consist of basically a resistor that control the current for each of the strands. IIRC there is only one fuse where the DC comes into the box. The adapter is 12V 5A tip positive barrel plug (not sure of the exact I.D. and O.D.). I know you can use 3A (if powering just the lights) because that is amperage of the adapter I modded for my 1st kiosk. Could prolly use a 1-1.5A adapter if just powering the led strips. And as you said, you can use 9V, but the LED strips just wont be as bright as intended.

I also have a few questions, just out of curiosity.

Do you guys have any idea what that extra shelf at the top of the underneath part of the kiosk is meant for? I just put wii u games there, but is there something that's meant to go there?

Also, for those of you that have the papers, demo discs, or SD cards, where in your kiosk did you find those?

I also find it odd that the store managers of your guys' Gamestops were so cautious about giving you guys the kiosks... My manager seemed happy to give it to me, all I did was leave her my number and a few weeks later I walked in and she told me to take it wherever I wanted. She knows me and my sister as regulars and gives us promotional stuff from time to time, but besides that we don't have much of a connection.

My GS wouldn't tell me if I could have itr not. Tbey said it was Nintendo property and they weren't sure what would happen with it once they came to get it.

I found 3 Demo discs in the dumpster along with some cables and chords. The SD Cards and another demo disc were on the bottom shelf mixed in with the wires and dust, lol. Didnt know they were even there until I got it home.

Majority of my local GS destroy everything and will not give things to people. I think it has a lot to do with the type of people working in your local stores. I get along with most of them, but when it comes to things they are going to trash, they will not just hand them over and will try to destroy it if possible. Rarely do I find game discs in the dumpster, but when I do, they are cut or deeply marred. I think some of the local GS employees take things home as well, since finds are few and far between for most of the local locations. Or could be someone else is beating me to the goods. But I doubt it with how often I check.

  • Update; Was able to pick the lock with a pair of scissors while pulling the door out... Inside i found the wrench! Not sure what its for (assembly of the kiosk id assume?) also happy to find all the psu's were intact along with the speakers and subwoofer. Currently looking for a cheap 32" to rig up and it'll be all done.
  • Question guys, do the LED lights on the outside edges of the unit go the full length on both sides? Are they all snapped together in one continuous section on each side? Mine were all taken apart and I only have enough to go about halfway on both sides.

On a related note, I only have two clips that connect the wires to the LED's. Has anybody seen these for sale anywhere? Or is there an alternative way to wire these up?

Its several pieces snapped together.. Mine are still there as originally installed. Ill take some measurments when I get home tonight. Im sure the same models are available commerically though if I were missing mine I would likely replace them with strip leds from ebay. Im partial to the rgb ws2812 lights even if it would be overkill.

There lowest piece has wires coming from it. I just hooked them right up to a regulated power supply without the lynx box and they work great.

  • Don't know if anyone has posted this already. Wanted to give everyone a heads up. There is a screen for sale. Bit rich for my blood, but maybe one of you dudes could use it.

The wrench is for undoing the lock  . Easiest way to replae replace the lock like I did. This is the lock I used as a replacement: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112051431275

Also, you picked the lock by just truning it with a pair of sisssors? That's wonderful.

Also something else I think is cool and should be noted about the LED strips.... they are stamped NOA parts.

  • Hey all, I just quickly compiled a complete catelog of parts with a breif description of the parts. It's incomplete as my plan was to add pictures to show what they looked like. Feel free to use it, its an excell spreadsheet but I think open office (office libre) can open and edit these things. If there are any errors or parts missing, feel free to alert me so I can fix it. My eventual plan is to, like I said, add pictures but this can be a neat little checklist to make sure you have all the parts.

Just a quick note, NA is giving me an error while trying to upload this, so I just threw it on google drive for you to view/download. Sorry for this issue. (made a few fixes since original upload)

Looks pretty much all of it was manufactured for NOA. Folks have tried reaching out to the kiosk manufacturer (Frank Mayer) and the LCD display and led power distribution box manufacturer (Lynx in NZ) and they have rejected requests for information or parts. More than one person stated in another thread that NOA would have to authorize release of information or parts due to contractual obligations with Nintendo. That doesnt mean these LEDs dont exist as a non-NOA model. They seem too modular to be fully custom.

I am one of those people.. haha. Started calling the companies late in January. The Lynx Innovations parts are stamped NOA, but they are no different than the other distribution boxes, monitors, led strips they use in generic kiosks. When I talked to the locksmith that supplied the locks and keys, he said he could not distribute any keys with Nintendo's consent. He then gave me the number he uses to contact them in case I wanted to go that route.

Exactly. I personally love stuff like that because I like stuff to be as original as possible. It's why I went through the hassle of buying a 2nd kiosk to build one complete one (not including console, controllers, gamepad.. will eventually track them down one day).

Not sure what you mean by back sign, I said back side panels as a mistake when I meant the brakcets that hold the back piece. Or did you mean the poster? There is two slots for a poster to be slid in. Mine had a really nice high quality poster in it, that's what I mean by that. I'll fix that in a bit.

Out of curiosity, have you called that "DOTS" Number on the sticker with the model number? I know that in the removal doc that I have, it says you can get a replacement key sent to you if you call the number. I assume that is intended for companies such as gamestop but I'm just curious if you did it or not.

The black one is most likely to the WiiU topper sign. Mine is black.

I was planning on doing this as well and listing it in the 1st post. I also have the measurements for the particleboard pieces, but wanted to get everyone's opinions before posting that info... Do not want to help people build fake kiosks, but also want to help those that want to restore these in the future....

Damn, well there goes that possibility. It would be nice if we could buy a key from that number.

Also, I don't think we are going to have a problem with fake kiosks. They are all specific parts specially made and arent necessarily being sold to the public. I wouldnt worry too much about it. Any instances where kiosks were actually faked previously?

Back sign is the thicker sign that fits into the tracks on the back of the kiosk. The most common one seems to be the white WiiU sign, while there is another that has Mario Maker, Pokkén Tournament, and Splatoon on it.

  • Just verifying that I'm stefan ortego. I posted in the kiosk collectors facebook, so I'm assuming that's where you got my info. Guess I'm getting that award too? Lol

Each strip is 6 pieces incuding the small piece that has the wires coming from it.

This part is about 1" long and has no part number markings.

Continuing from the bottom there are 3 pieces 16" long. NOA P/N 78451, LYNX P/N 005-008-051

    1 piece 6" long NOA P/N 78454, LYNX P/N 005-008-054

    1 piece 4" long NOA P/N 78455, LYNX P/N 005-008-055

Conclusion: Use LED strip light from ebay.

I am fairly certain that the correct connector for the lynx led box is this one:

    https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=732-4758-ND

I ordered a bunch and will report back here once they arrive if they are the right ones or not.

I wish i had more room to leave that logo exposed. Wonder why it was printed on some and not others?

After shifting mine last night, I was also thinking that this thing should come with a He-Man award. Somehow this weighs more than my other kiosks, and rivals a dynamo cab, with a smaller footprint!

Back sign is the thicker sign that fits into the tracks on the back of the kiosk. The most common one seems to be the white WiiU sign, while there is another that has Mario Maker, Pokkén Tournament, and Splatoon on it.

Ok now this upsets me. I would love to have a sign like that

This is the white Wii U logo one

I wish i had more room to leave that logo exposed. Wonder why it was printed on some and not others?

After shifting mine last night, I was also thinking that this thing should come with a He-Man award. Somehow this weighs more than my other kiosks, and rivals a dynamo cab, with a smaller footprint!

Gonna be fair, I'm goint to frame the mario maker/pokken/splatoon sign that came with mine and hang it up on the wall. It's suprisingly high quality for a poster-esque thing.
