Just got my first game graded

My first experience with VGA and overall a great experience.  Considering how flimsy the boxes are for unlicensed games (and especially amazing condition of this copy), I'm wondering if anything above 80 is even possible for Caltron/Myriad.  Anyway, very pleased with the grade and the polish of the packaging overall.

  • That's downright sexy -- congrats!
  • Very nice. If you don't mind my asking, is this the copy that was advertised here and on the 'Bay a few weeks back?
  • Thanks for the compliments guys. Yes, this is the copy that showed up here and on the bay a few weeks ago. Seller was local so was able to pick up in person.
  • Looks great.. Congrats!
  • that looks sexy!
  • That really looks nice.
  • Nice. Just an 80 though? It looked pretty clean from the pictures. I would have thought it had a shot at 85. In any case, congrats, it looks great!
  • That is absolutely beautiful!!

Looks great!  Good thing they were local...because the hazard of shipping that copy any more than necessary would have been a real gamble.

Yeah, I talked to Tom @ VGA about grading in general during the process.  It definitely had a shot at 85, but given the quality of the box/shrinkwrap there are a few issues that seem unavoidable (slight warping of the box, hinge wear, etc).  Apparently this is the first 80 for a Caltron/Myriad.
  • That looks great in the VGA like that. I think it's stupid how it's impossible basically for a Caltron/Myriad to be higher than 80, 85, but overall great copy.
  • ^ yeah i doubt there is a questioner inside that copy
  • Total sexiness!

great game, congrats!  I don't think myriad and caltron should be painted with the same brush though.  I have seen a nice caltron or two before but the myriads always look like dogshit, at least that I've seen.    Very nice copy of a tough game.  congrats

  • Very nice. Congrats image
  • Awesome. Now you'll want more graded. Once you start with VGA you can't stop! image
  • it does make regular cases seem unsafe by comparison huh? image Just wish it didn't take up so much space once graded
  • AWESOME SHAPE ON THAT ONE. CONGRATS!

No kidding, I used to think that my other sealed games were fine in box protectors or the 'standard' VGA cases... now it feels like they might as well be lying out on the porch or something.  image

Agreed that maybe I shouldn't put Caltron/Myriad in the same boat.  I guess I haven't ever seen a minty Myriad and the box quality is even worse than the Caltron.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!

  • I know there have been mixed emotions from people about grading in general, but I don't think there is a single person that can deny how unbelievably sexy a game like this can look in one of those cases.

Very, very pretty copy man. You can count me as one of the many who are jealous of this one!
  • I hate VGA and grading, but that is a sexy copy of Caltron for sure. Looks nice sir.
