  • I saw an NES console with about 20 games on "this old house"

It had a zapper on top, but was connected to flat screen n00bz
  • Seinfeld had boxed nes games on his shelf

    I love that show.

Theres a few Trailer Park Boys episodes where Corey and Trevor play either SNES or N64. The sound effects are just stock video game sounds, and they blur out the controllers, but you can tell what they are.
  • Tosh.0 has made a few references; Mario, Excite Bike, and they've had a zapper in place of a nerd's gun.

I've always noticed that too. It really bothered me. Lol

  • In the show Storage Wars, they "found" some gaming items in various episodes.

Like that super rare NES-001 that sold for $13,000 in the internet.

Hell I think either in the original black/white movie or an early episode Julian's trailer had an SNES -- it was shown while he was listening to his answering machine messages

  • So many video game references in Regular Show. From the Sega Master System they're always playing to the arcade characters that come to life and try to kill them, even the game developer "Maury Moto".
  • Saw a segement on Vice News Tonight about a suspected murderer and his Amazon Echo was being investigated to see if it had listened in on the crime as it happened. A picture of the guy's entertainment center shows an SNES at the bottom.

    Jack Thompson vindicated.
  • In Home Alone there's a scene where someone in the van (that takes them to the airport) is playing a handheld gaming device of some sort...and it's much to thin (about half the thickness) of a Game Boy, so what is that he's playing?
  • In a bunch of Tyler Perry movies (yeah I know), you can see multiple Nintendo consoles...I think mainly N64...but there was one with a Wii bag in it...I think.

Chuck (great show btw) has TONS of gaming stuff. From modern day (at the time) all the way back to NES...possibly even an Atari or Pong machine. Most of the stuff isn't shown off until near the end of the second season I think? Possibly the 16th episode.
  • I watched an episode of hoarders last night. I noticed the crazy woman who was preparing for the apocalypse had a power pad strewn in with her mountains of garbage.

Whoa! I watched it too... but only a few minutes. In the small time I watched, the lady pulled out a SMB3 box for Gameboy Advance. FAHK.

The person helping her grabbed the box and was like "What if I throw this away?"

She goes: "Oh, I have the game for it and it sells for $100 on eBay."

Haha... sounds like something I would say.

Edit: I'm assuming this was the same lady based on the fact she had various video game stuff/"ebay items"...

It might have had the Walmart-exclusive extra eReader cards.

YES! Not sure if you're just joking or not.... but it could have!

Damn I wanted to try those.

  • In Steven Universe, Steven often plays a Nintendo 64.

Also, in the last episode of Stranger Things, one of the boys gets excited over one of his Christmas presents that he thinks is an Atari.

Trying to watch that episode on A&E to find out. Stupid streaming app won't work, even after I've authenticated with my TV provider. Grrr...

Back in the day, I got the game several days early when my local Walmart broke the street date. I still have mine with the extra eReader cards.

I have noticed that over and over and can't help but wondering how/why they got into the set. I love the show, and I love NES, but the set of Seinfeld is one of the last places I would expect to see NES stuff. Maybe a big NES fan worked on putting together the set? This has baffled me for some time...

  • They play Halo 2 in The Office at Jim's party. And COD 2 as a training exercise.
  • Anytime I see any gaming items in TV shows or movies, especially arcade games,I try to see if I can indentify them all.

Speaking of, I started a thread in 2009 dedicated to this topic.  Unfortunately the photos are dead, but at the time, it looked like there was a Sim City NES box on the shelf!  Then we eventually agreed it was an optical illusion and likely an SNES box placed next to the other NES titles.

  • Dan Martin, creator of the internet comic, Deathbulge, will reference Sega Bass Fishing every so often.

    Deathbulge Comics

Edit: Okay, I know it's not a tv show, but it's all I could think of!
  • Watching Hoarders to find that episode and compare it to my box is hitting a little too close to home. D:

Hours wasted. Can someone say what episode specifically?
  • There is a scene in Rumble in the Bronx where Jackie Chan gives the little wheelchair kid a Game Gear. They show him playing it a little later and there is no cartridge in it. Poor little wheelchair kid.

I'm pretty sure it had Pac Man sounds.

I think Surf Ninjas also had a Game Gear with no cartridge playing Pac Man sounds.

3 Ninjas had a scene where they played Super Mario Bros 3 in the stage with kuribo's shoe.
  • I know one (a few?) of the early Malcolm in the Middle episodes had gameboys and a super nes. I'm pretty sure the gameboy was without game when it was shown though.
  • In "The Wrestler" Mickey Rourkes socially isolatee character plays NES with a neighborhood kid who laments about how old it is comparing it to Call of Duty.

Boyz n da Hood - a guy points a gun telling his friend how he will blast someone and then boom... takes down a flying duck in Duckhunt.
  • "The Wakness" (2008)

Josh Peck's character plays the first Zelda on NES. There are no save files. Either someone forgot to hold Reset and corrupted the save, or the battery is dead. Kinda breaks the idea that it's set in the '80s.
  • What the hell? This "Dan is Dead" show's poster/logo rips off the TurboGrafx-16 logo:
