fun fact: this song was created in 1959. it saids 1962 but its really older than that. personally i think for electronic music its really ahead of its time.
YMO was so influential in Japan that it's hard for me to imagine that Kazumi Totaki (the Animal Crossing composer) was not influenced by them. Ryuichi Sakamoto (YMO's frontman) also did the soundtrack for The Last Emperor, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, and of course, the Dreamcast boot sequence music.

If so you really are right, especially in the Jazz world since it was highly frowned upon to use anything other than acoustic instruments, electric Jazz didn't really get massive until Miles Davis released Bitches Brew.

Since were talking YMO, how about this?
That's some cool trivia about the boot sequence. Never knew that. That's knd of like how Microsoft got Brian Eno to compose the Windows 95 startup theme.

I'm getting a "Secret of Evermore" vibe from it. Its been a long time since I played that game but that was my initial feeling.
Definitely feels that way at the beginning, then it kind of evolves into a Dragon Quest-like sound.

Oh for sure! A lot of Dragon Quest feels going on here too.
This sounds like something Yellow Magic Orchestra or Isao Tomita would do. Listen to this:
This song has always reminded me of some of the songs in Animal crossing.

I only listened to the first 30s and it sounds like something Squaresoft would do in the '90s.
I agree.

lol. Feels a lot more upbeat when you speed it up a bit. (I guess that what happens when you "up" the beats, eh? lol)
Yeah, I can totally jam to this in a different way now than before.
