Damn son, is it at only 115 games? I'm at like 85 physical already, maybe I should just go for a full set lol

Super stoked. I had originally pre-ordered Musynx at Gamestop a couple weeks ago. Day of release, I call them up and they tell me they never got it. According to their online inventory, no one in the entire San Diego county got any. So I go in today, and they have one sitting on the shelf. Would have been nice if they let me know it came in but whatever, I'm just glad to have it. I also picked up Aqua Moto Racing Utopia for $15.10 with the original case and artwork.

Have you tried them both?  How are they?

I haven't gotten into Aqua Moto yet, but I'm really enjoying Musynx. It has a lot of music and free future dlc. The artwork is beautiful and there's a few different scrolling backgrounds so it's not the same thing over and over. You can customize the difficulty a lot so that's nice, but even still, some of the songs throw so many notes at you it can be overwhelming. I got it to play mostly in handheld mode, which does make it harder. You can also use the touch screen (which makes it a lot easier) or even both buttons and touch at the same time. But if you want to play docked, you have to get good playing on joycons. A few bummers, there's no way to sort or filter songs by genre, difficulty, etc..., it doesn't save the settings of songs the last time you played, and load times from the results screen back to music select is 13-14 seconds.

Just adding a few things to this. It does only have a song select. So no 3 song arcade mode/"story" mode. Also slightly dissapointed that this game only has 2 difficulty options. Like you said though the game does look awesome and most the music is fun so hopefully the added songs later will be just as nice.

yeah there is only one mode, but I don't really mind. As for the difficulty options, there is 4 key and 6 key for both easy and hard, so it's more like 4 different options.
  • While I understand the complaints for people like quest, it is a perfect system for my specific demographic. Despite being primarily a PS2 and PS3/360 player the last two gens I kept putting off getting a PS4 because I knew I wouldn't realistically be able to play it much with a bunch of small kids keeping me occupied until 9pm, and then my wife not really interested in me playing zombie games on our bedroom TV while she sleeps (I started The Last of Us fucking *months* ago, getting in playtime when it magically pops up). Handheld is a game changer that lets me circumvent a lot of that, and actually get through games like Skyrim and Breath of the Wild. And I adore the 3DS so I love how stuff like Shin Megami Tensei and Octopath and SteinGates are helping consolidate a natural progression of both the Wii U and 3DS/Vita libraries.  It's like I got the follow-up to the 3Ds, but as a bonus it plays Wii U and 360 games.

Of course I'm also very open-minded when it comes to games, so anything that is well-regarded, regardless of genre or subgenre, I'm probably down with. So if you have no interest in Xenoblade or Darkest Dungeon or Octopath or Valkyria Chronicles, or you already had a full Wii U library, or you have the ability to play a ton of PS4, or you buy thousands of steam games, and the Switch handheld mode does nothing for you, you're not gonna get as much out of it as someone like me.
  • I'm in the same boat as you Brock. I've done most my gaming on portables and missed the last two major consoles because of kids. With the switch I can squeeze in gaming when I can, and still have the option to play with the whole family. I didn't play or own a a wii u and I see people complaining about ports, but for me it's all new.

So awesome!  Glad I’m not the only one with 3 consoles

Thanks.  I usually go by this website for the exclusives list.

Neat.  I can use this to help nail down some UK exclusives.  Glad to see I haven’t missed many

I went through the list.  There were a few PAL games I needed to add.  Thanks for posting that.

  • Does anyone subscribe to any Switch-centric youtube channels? I've been watching beatemups lately who basically only covers Switch stuff now.

Most of them talk about switch now. I personally cant stand that dude. Most of the you tube people like that are completely pointless. There are basically giving you zero information about anything that you couldnt just figure out yourself by just being on the internet. I basically just hate that whole youtube scene. They are all the same. Their opinions are never insightful and just so bleh generic. I use to occasionally watch those channels. One day I just kind of realized what the hell am I watching these people for? Couldnt think of 1 thing I learned watching any of it lol.
  • He's not Switch centric but Happy Console Gamer does talk about Switch games from time to time. Seems like a good dude and one of the few reviewers my wife enjoys watching.

Oh! And look at that timing. I can also say he's the one that got me into Ys many years ago. Ys VIII out tomorrow, woo!
  • Super pumped for Ys! Played on PS4 but didn't finish it so I'm gonna jam back thru it on Switch! Great game! I'd recommend to anyone who likes hack n slash rpgs! Picture like a modern day Mana game! Great music and erythang!

    Few tracks i like:

Yeah Johnny is alright. His channel kinda went meh after he did the Patreon thing and went overboard with some clickbait esque bullshit, but he knows his shit, he's been playing games since the early 80's and has some great stories.
  • His D&D stories are pretty funny. His friend Swagger or whatever reminds me of how I played in a group. I missed the initial meetup so my character was created for me. I was a barbarian with low intelligence. So, when I showed up and we started the campaign I just busted through doors and Leroy Jenkins'd shit. The DM told me to stop and said that I would die. I whooped that wizards ass jumping through his portals.

DON'T TELL ME THE ODDS, MOTHER FUCKER.
  • Do his thumbnails feature him making funny faces while pointing at something or shrugging, with a question in caps?

If so I may or may not be out
  • ^^^ Don't they all?

    Of course they do.

He's not fat with a neckbeard though at least.

Lol, Can't tell if this is a good or bad reaction!   Are you more or less excited now?

  • I could be mixing up games but I think he doesn't like Secret of Mana? I forget which games people were talking about in the SNES thread since I haven't played many of the SNES RPGs.
  • Doesn't like Secret of Mana!?!? Who doesn't like Secret of Mana!? Nazi's and Terrorists! THats Who!!
  • I know for sure he doesn't like the Ys series. So I'm thinking I might be wrong because he might be tempted to buy one of them.

Anyone who doesn't like the Ys series is just a monster.
  • Who doesn't like that Ys bump and grind action.
  • So I've been hearing really good things about Ys VIII. I've never played a Ys game before and I have so much to play as it is but with everything I'm hearing about the game it sounds like something right up my alley. A modern Mana game? As in a good Mana game, like Secret or Legend, not like Dawn of Mana? I may have to check Ys VIII out. It wasn't on my radar because I'm really just waiting for Octopath to get my JRPG fix (preordered the wayfarer edition because I'm that hyped) but I've got 3 weeks and this game looks good so I might try it out.

I probably wouldn't put it on the same level as Secret of Mana but the Ys games are a joy to play. Combat is fast and fluid. Ys VII is still my favorite but VIII is up there. Maybe check out some gameplay and see if it'd be up your alley! Definitely a cool game to get for Switch!

I remember seeing gameplay of YS III on SNES and thinking "nope this looks horrible, won't be playing this". But I mean that was forever ago and VIII is a lot different from III. But I just never checked out the series beyond that. I've been looking at gameplay videos and it looks fun. I didn't think it would be as good as Secret of Mana, I mean it's one of my favorite action RPGs (though I liked Legend and Evermore better... Lol)
  • Ys III is unlike any other game in the series.
  • Literally lol. My favorite is still Oath in Felghana, but 7 is second, and 8 is pretty high up there too.
  • I don't dislike Mana, but it has many faults, including horrible combat that has aged poorly. No game should play like that in 2018.

I don't dislike Ys games, but I've never loved one either. And I've completed 5 of them.

I will be getting VIII, but Im preparing myself for the possibility that I like and not love it
