So many good ones coming out! I don't know what to do. I was SUPER impressed with DOOM. I played it all weekend. I'm having a great time with it!

I'm having a lot of fun with it as well. Played it quite a white portably and docked. Both modes play great. I was surprised with how many hours I sunk into multiplayer over the weekend. To me, the online multiplayer feels a lot like halo. I'm having a blast with it.

in the campaign, I just got to hell. I'm liking this environment more than the space station. Not sure how far I am into the campaign.

What's crazy is that Wolfenstein 2 is coming as well! It's a good time to be a switch owner. Still playing tons of Mario odyssey too.

    I love physical copies!

You nailed it! The MP feels exactly like Halo to me and I love it! I think that's why I played so much this weekend. I made it to Echelon 2 - Level 16. So many games to grab for the Switch, I just don't know what I'm gonna do!

  • I really like that the switch shows icons of all games you have played, even cartridge versions. It's a good feeling building up a visual library of games and seeing all their icons. I haven't bought a triple a game other than Nintendo on launch in such a long time. Thanks Doom
  • Everyone get ready for a lot of games tomorrow! Just to be followed up with Skyrim on Friday.

    Switch rocks
  • They keep coming in! We can't stop the flood!
  • Bethesda did Nintendo a true ultimately trifecta looking solid between Doom, Skyrim and Wolfenstein II early next year.

Have you seen the video Nintendolife did today between it and the One version? I'm quite impressed. Aside from going from 720p Switch to maybe 900p on the One it's quick to realize two things. The primarily compromises are in the finer of the fine details (scar on hand in opening, some of the dimples/dents in that gray case where your doom guy armor was) yet other finer details (seeing the gloved hands, smashing a demon skull, or the various lcd/comms panels are retained with little to no loss. The other compromise being that more distant lighting isn't as real (minimal) or faked compared to the glow on the console, but in closer spaces it's not doing that. I have it on my PC and I can see the difference there, but dumbing it down to the same resolution it keeps up fairly nicely when the settings are brought to par with how the Switch engine is run. It's quite a stunning technical marvel in all respects and to think this was their out of the gate entry they kept under wraps for quite a stretch instead showing off Skyrim early on. This was something that took considering love, care, time and effort to do and it shows it. To think what these guys had to have learned about the Switch in the process and how they could go back and apply more tweaks or changes in further stuff to perhaps eek out a little bit more from the hardware (potentially with Wolfenstein II) which really has me curious what early 2018 will bring with that one.

Also I'm finding that perhaps this game was developed for a console in mind and the PC being where Doom started got its traditional release there too. Side by side I find it very strange but I can play it better on the console/Switch version than the PC. Maybe if I used a game pad on PC it would level out but I use a mouse and keyboard and it just seems more twitchy and combative in the sequences than on Switch using the controls.
  • OP updated with 6 new releases and 1 LE release. Happy gaming!

Edit: Also added the LoZ: BOTW Explorers Edition to the upcoming list.  According to Nintendo.com it releases on 11/23

I would snag that Explorer's Edition if the map was bigger!

  • I'm glad I decided not to go for a full set. Physical releases are definitely picking up now!

Anyone want to hazard a guess how many physical releases we will end up seeing on the Switch? Are releases coming out at a similar pace to previous consoles? It feels a bit slower to me, but I haven't really paid too much attention to releases for current gen systems until now.

  • Given how well the system is doing and the fact that we are seeing an increase in production to meet demand I expect we will see Wii-level support complete with plenty of shovelware.
  • I think it will hit 500. Seeing as how we are already getting plenty of indie titles and shovelware on the way
  • I was afraid you guys would say that. I've tentatively set my self the target of collecting a complete set of unique titles, but may have to scale back my ambitions.

Exactly my thought process. The Switch is clearly a hit. It will attract all the good stuff and the unfortunate shovelware. The indies have been good, I'll admit!

  • Right now it's got about the same amount of physical releases the Wii U did at this point in its lifespan. However, while the first 6 or 7 months of the Switch's life has been very slow, I can already feel it's picking up steam and the amount of physical releases will likely increase a lot now that developers are seeing the console as a success and thus more willing to release their games on it. Around 500 sounds plausible, but personally I think it could be even more. We don't even know how long this console's cycle will be. You figure about 5 years for a typical Nintendo console but being that this will most likely replace the handheld as well as the console line, I think we could be looking at around a 7 year cycle with 600 or 700 physical titles.
  • Crazy to think that in 7 months Nintendo has sold more than half as many Switches as they sold Wii U's in its entire life. And we haven't even gone through a Christmas season yet. Curious to see how many will be sold within the first year. It's not impossible to say it could outsell the Wii U in its first year, but that may still be a stretch.

    Nintendo already said it would.

Estimated 14 million Switches sold by end of March, compared to 13 million Wii Us sold during its entire lifespan.

I read that as well.  I create and analyze forecasts all day long, so I'm not that big of a fan of making that call this early, but I certainly agree that it's possible.  However, even if they don't hit that number, I feel they will certainly hit it by summer of next year.  It's pretty hard to deny that the Switch is a success.

This is a good point! I didn't even think of this! Wow! That really sets in.

The forecast is probably is good as gold........... they count the sale to distrubtion and retailers which is already set. Everyone has got their orders in for the holiday season and the rest is forecasting the first two months of 2018.

As far as physical releases........ I track them all in the major regions and I would guess 500-600 tops of unique titles (this doesn't count the 4 different ways you can buy BOTW). What you will find is there is a lot power within the European channel and developers there are doing unique things such as in there is a Rime's Collectors Edition that won't come state side.
  • Speaking of Rime, for those of you who haven't played it yet, I highly suggest it. I played through the PS4 version and really enjoyed it. I has a Ico/Last Guardian type of feel to it.

I've already started to see this in a small way. The Syberia series is being ported to the Switch and being sold physically in the UK. I have the first and will be picking the second up at release on 12/1. There are also a couple of Funbox Media titles scheduled for physical releases in the UK which will only be available from the eShop here in NA. The last one I currently know of is a physical release in Germany based on an X Factor style TV singing game. I haven't read much about it, but expect it will be pretty terrible and only selling based on the hype for the TV show.

Schlag den Star (Hit the Star) ............ First known shovelware

They are releasing Syberia 1, 2, 1+ 2 (combo) and 3 is next year.... and as of right now only confirmed in European countries.

  • Is there a list of which Switch games comes with manuals? Are there any besides Cave Story+?
  • First post they're keeping track of it, I believe. Hardly any games have manuals, though.

The first post in this thread lists everything that came with each title, including manuals.

Heard bad things about the switch version unless it will change with some sort of update. Just finished watching Arlo's review of it.

can be found here if interested:

  • I guess I need to look at adding European retail exclusives considering there is a better chance of them playing in English then the Japanese releases. Definitely going to need everyone's help with this (everyone has been a great help so far!)
  • Added 7 Japanese exclusive games to the OP

Do you have a short summary about what he didn't like?  I'm curious if it's something about the Switch port or just the game itself.
