  • There is no required download for Skyrim, right? I'm kind of considering it.
  • Has anyone tried Skyrim yet?
  • None I got it an hour ago but had to finish stuff up and it didn't start a download when I put it in there. Unlike Doom it's all on the card.
  • Still on the fence... gotta give us an update.   Hows it look? Solid frame rate? Play well in handheld (if you tried it)?
  • Have put about 10 hours into Skyrim and it glitched out twice and crashed once, which is a massive improvement over both the ps3 and ps4 versions. Frame rate is solid. Where as Doom can be quite blurry in handheld without adjusting the settings, i feel handheld is were Skyrim truly shines!
  • Zelda BOTW Special edition is up for prime members for$99 shipped

    Is this the Explorers Edition?
  • No. It's the initial special edition from launch. Big ol box, carrybing case, coin. The whole nine

I probably put 5 hours on it today as I know I lost track of time.  So far I've gone through the opening and done some quests and one side quest so far.  I got lost early on after the escape and going to that first little town.  Somehow I missed going to the big central castle/fort with the leader there and ended up going through this large cave network on accident.  It was hard because I didn't realize I was underleveled, but being a bit sneaky with stuff I scraped by and ended up jumping the shark and getting the dragon item and call I was supposed to go to the castle/fort for from the leader.  Did that, dealt with the watch tower/dragon, couple other necessary things around that, returned that claw thing around the primary and currently heading east (at a dual tower/bridge over the river) heading to get the sap to resurrect a tree.

I have no experience with the original, but I can verify going by watching the digital foundry video they're on the nose.  The graphics are beautiful, no notable pop in or graphics oddities.  Everything is more or less very detailed, crisp, clean, well animated.  Controls/camera are solid even if they are rooted in 2011~ design it's not a bad thing.  It never stagged, clipped or shimmied around staying on a fluid frame rate.  I'm still trying to figure out how a few things work, such as me being a hero and having this female partner (if I dismiss her does she go back to the castle or leave me for good, and what if she dies?)  Being someone who never played such things it's very well worth the asking price as there's a huge world and a large game going on here that sucks time away and you don't realize it (like Zelda BOTW.)

I'm not seeing this on Amazon, do you have a link I'm missing?
  • these downloads required by Rockstar and NBA 2K18 is because they DID NOT WANT TO OPT IN FOR HIGHER CAPACITY SWITCH GAME CARDS...like Nintendo uses and offers..they wanted to "pinch pennys'..and go the "download" route..otherwise, it was unnecessary if they would of gotten the upgraded switch carts.

Not to mention LA Noire and others like it (couldn't care less about the basketball games) will be absolutely useless as used games after te server sunset some 10-15 years from now, despite being essentially offline games.

Unfortunately the deal was up for 2 hrs by the time I posted and didn't last much longer.
  • I downloaded the Spelunker party demo, it's a surprisingly fun game. Lots of questions now, will LRG do a physical copy next year when they start? Or is it worth importing and see if it plays in English? Hmmmmm

That Shieka Slate Zelda carrying case is still the most attractive and beautiful Switch case produced yet. I wonder if this was a new production run or old stock. Amazon has been known to withhold stock until the holidays at times.

  • Just picked up Sine Mora EX after putting it off for a while, I'm excited to try it later.

Side more for Canadians - this weekend EB has 20% off used games for Platinum members and 30% off used games for Onyx members. It's a shame my local shop doesn't have a lot of used Switch games

I looked into importing it months ago and can confirm that it does not play in English. I remember some reviews from import sites I looked at mentioned the game being really fun despite no English option, but something aboout it being difficult to get quests done because they couldn't understand Japanese. The game was also published by Square Enix, so I don't think LRG would be doing a physical copy of it; I don't think they have done physical copy of a game published by a major publisher before but I could be wrong on that.

  • Cool, thanks for the info!
  • I think Fire Emblem Warriors might be my favourite game for the system. No matter what comes out I seem to always go back to it.

I've been debating for awhile on picking this up. Is it that good?! Last one I played was Awakening.

I am a huge fire emblem fan so I may be biased.  It is a musou game like Hyrule warriors, samurai warriors etc.  if you don't like those games you probably wouldn't like it.  It has some fire emblem elements but ultimately you just run around and hack and slash everything with fire emblem characters.  Reviews have been ok, maybe check out some reviews before making a purchase.

  • Yeah, you have to like mindless hack and slash stuff. I was a fan of Dynasty and Samarai Warriors so the Fire Emblem take was appealing to me. I finished the campaign and have completed up through the first 6 or so missions on all difficulties trying to unlock things. It's entertaining.

For those that have played Doom on other consoles does the difficulty seemed nerfed to you? On PS4 I got my ass kicked on even the lowest difficulty. It seems like a breeze on Switch.
  • I'm gonna have to check out some reviews. it does seem appealing! As far as DOOM goes, I can't confirm as I didn't play it enough on Console (My bro had it), but from what it feels like, it's much easier. Granted I only played about 3-4 missions on Xbox.

I haven't played Doom on any other systems but it does seem a bit easy (I'm playing on easy though so I kind of expected it)

For FEW I'm almost done the campaign and have been replaying earlier levels too to build up my characters.  It is entertaining

  • I broke down and ordered Skyrim maybe being able to cosplay as Link will make be actually play it this time.
  • Just finished Poi 100%! Enjoyed it more than i thought i would. Fun little Mario 64 clone!

Yes. That game is so much fun. Played for 6 hours straight first time playing. I am stuck on stage 12 though, just can't seem to pass it.

  • Keep leveling up with one of your favorite characters. What difficulty are you on?
