Yikes, that's awful. Is that really a retail release? They are selling it from Australia and really just printed a cover for North America. If everyone wants me to add it then I will
It is a US code which is included in the box, and sold at a US convention (retail?) so my vote would be to include in a US set.
The original.run that actually did have a cart were Aus/PAL copies so it 100% should not be considered part of the NA set
The original Australian pal run was 500 games only, with no cartridge in box and a download code only. The US release is the same deal, except the download code is for a US account only, unlike the Aus release code which was for an Australian account only. I'm not understanding why people are wanting to exclude this from the US set. From my ps vita games collecting days, releases with a physical release but no cartridge included (download code only) were considered as a physical release as part of a full set (please correct me if I'm wrong). Then there is the question of the game being on sale at the convention. Again from the ps vita perspective, LRG releases were considered part of the full US set and were never available at a physical retailer (please correct me if I'm wrong). I'm not fussed either way, just wanting to see the logic.
Was there not an Aus copy with a cart as well? Or were they all digital download only? Some people.donr count certain releases. It's just a matter of personal opinion/preference I think. Like alot of people don't consider the LRG games as part of compete sets. Was the game factoey manufactured? Is that a real UPC or a random made up number? Does it actually have an official Nintendo catalog game # printed on the back of the art etc? I guess there are a million factors honestly
I would think in terms of completing a "set" that att the very least it would have to be a physical cart. Just going off of some basic this sites general consensus of lets say any modern console where someone has one of those complete set badges im pretry sure its only for physical releases not downloaded games. In general i dont really care, but i just find the notion of completing a "set" has to include download games is strange
Here are the cold hard facts. 1000 of them were printed 500 for Australia which were given to EB games as an exclusives . There was 500 that had a US print that they sold at PAX. After that there was approximately 150 left after the event five of which they put on eBay for auctions. I'm not sure what happened to the balance. It's up to the collector to decide how they want this to fit in their set. To me this is similar to the sonic game so however you count that as that you would count this and I would figure you're going to see more retail releases like this as well. Also you can bet a dollar to a doughnut desk where is going to be released in retail form here soon
I can't find a pic online of the release. However, watch this video which shows the insert which came with the game and read it - it explains there are 500 physical released only and why the numbering is screwed up:
The NA releases have the lower number 000 - 499 and AUS are 500 - 999 if I recall.
I don't think i explained myself correctly in my last post. The previous video I linked shows an insert which comes with game explaining the numbering. Refer below for an image from my copy :
So, they printed 870 US copies with only 120 being available for initial sale with the remainder for a later date. The Australian numbering starts at 872 with 500 copies for sale only.
This is what you get for the aus release : 1. Sticker sheet on clear backing 2. Sticker sheet on white backing 3. One Badge - one of four colours you get at random 4. A piece of cardboard in the shape of a switch cart with the download code (there is no physical cart) 5. An insert saying thanks and explaining the numbering of the cases
In Australia, games aren't sealed, excluding some special editions which are sealed. For death squared, this is not a sealed game. Also, the badge doesn't quite fit in the case.
Are they saying both console and arcade versions will be included or are they meaning something like we've grown up on the console and now we'll have experienced both after getting to play the arcade (only)? It wouldn't be suggestive to speak like that only for one platform to appear but it could just be possible sloppy speaking.

I'd guess it's the arcade ports only. Which to me is fine because don't get me wrong....POW, Ikari, etc....were all decent as kids on NES ut let's be honest, the arcade versions are 100x better. I doubt they'd put both on there.

Ikari Warriors especially i would say is not better. Yeah the technical specs are better and probably the controls too (never played the arcade) but i think it's too paced and also much shorter. The NES version is technically flawed but way more fun because you could actually die so the progression feels more challenging. The main thing i dislike is the 80 degree angle shot wich is just fucking weird unlike the more "pronounced" diagonal shot that's also there.

Will there be a standard edition? There usually is with their stuff
I'm not sure, the Destructoid article can be read like there won't be, only that they're making a physical limited edition run, but it's not the best wording.

Totally stoked both version are on there, I remember POW in the arcades being Awesome!

I can add it to the limiteds and variants. I will not add it to the list of physical releases
I believe that's what I suggested wayback when Sonic was an issue. There is not a physical game included with Death Squared.
The path to a physical game is simple. There must be some form of media.
Now the issue will come up if the developers (which i've heard) may publish the game in a physical release.
In the future this will become a new category of colelcting as you will see a slight shift in this approach. Sega tested and it was successful.

Here is the NA edition clear as day from the developer https://www.ebay.com/itm/Death-Sq...~xlau0D4
Here is the developer mentioning it on their twitter for the 5 numbers https://twitter.com/smgstudio/sta...
and the original tweet https://twitter.com/smgstudio/sta...
They gave away 4 on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Nintendo...

Should be. Dont think NISA would put out a game without an actual physical game.

They don’t ship to Europe unfortunately. Does anyone know a way around this ?
