VideoGameBoxProtectors.com - Games don't fit?

Hey all, I don't want to start a witchhunt or anything of the sort, just hoping to get some guidance if possible.

I placed an order on VideoGameBoxProtectors.com for a few cases for my CIB games and a few cart only cases as well. Basically wanted to test the waters of these cases, so put in a $15 order to see what I get. Unfortunately, this was almost a month ago now, and I've not received any updates at all.

I sent a few emails through their "Submit a Request" form, but have not heard anything back yet (this was about a week ago now). I also checked on NA to see if there was a thread talking about the site, and found that there was, but the OP (and I believe owner) hasn't been on since late last year.

Has anyone else placed orders on this site recently and received anything? Am I alone in this? Is a month a reasonable period of time to have to wait for this (maybe they're made custom on the spot or something I dunno).

  • That is quite abnormal. I placed an order on their site a month or less ago and got my order within a week of ordering it.
  • Granted, I'm domestic and you're technically international so it should take longer but the month out and no response is off, especially if you put a help ticket in a week or more ago they should've responded back by now.
  • Hmmmm. Maybe I'll open another ticket tonight then, just in case. I'd think though that with me being international, the shipping itself would be the issue if anything, not the processing. Like I'd expect for it to have been sent out by now. Unless maybe they ship only in bulk and are waiting on some other huge order to send my stuff out at the same time, but that strikes me as odd.

I wonder if there's a Canadian store that makes/sells these.
  • I've ordered several times from them shipping to Toronto (large orders like 300 items), and the orders have always come within 2 week. Granted I haven't order anything in like 2 years.

I wish there was a canadian producer, the exchange and shipping is killer on this stuff.
  • I have not recently made any orders... but ones I've done in the past have been no problem.

I hope it gets worked out for you Gloves.

Ps. new avatar?? That threw me off for a minute. I was like "who's this new new guy taking Gloves' username!?!?!?"

I've actually considered getting in touch with China (or wherever) to become a supplier for this sort of thing here in Canada. I feel like we get the shaft on stuff like this, and someone needs to step up. I just don't know anything about the logistics of storing and shipping them out etc..

Haha yeah, I changed it to Hamtaro as a joke in the Pokemon Werewolf thread. People were saying they were gonna "kick the new guy out" for not having a pokemon avatar.

I'd buy them off you. Right now I buy em at my local store at $1 a piece, just to avoid hassle. There was a thread recently asking about console box protectors and someone responded saying they're working on it. I'm pretty sure the person was Canadian but I may be wrong. Can't for the life of me find that damn thread now.

Edit: nope cant find it. make these happen gloves!

  • I ordered from that site around the new year. Everything was automated and received within a few days. Try to get in touch as this sounds unusual like a lost order or bug. For a last resort, you can always cancel and chargeback the funds to place a new order there or with someone else. A month is more than I would wait.

I'd say it's a good idea, I've heard so many people complain about the shipping costs from the states that they don't bother buy would totally buy them if that wasn't the case. The big retro stores in the area have been buying from the states and sell for high amounts (2-3 dollars for some) so if you could get a steady supply to them could work out well.

  • Is this the site run by Jim Poleshuk? He's a great guy with a solid reputation. I can contact him through Facebook if you need me to.

I'm not sure. I'm going to do another ticket tonight, but if you have a quicker way like Facebook to get in touch that'd be great!

Like I say, don't wanna start a smear campaign, just figured someone here might know the guy, which does seem to be the case!

If you can toss a message on Facebook I'd really appreciate it.
  • Thoroughly impressed with my large order from almost a year ago. Here's hoping he comes through for you.

    Yes, I think so.
  • Message sent. Also linked him here.

Hey KHAN Games....  I'm running into the same thing with an order I placed with Jim back on 3/6/17.  It's going on nearly 2 weeks and I haven't heard a thing at all from him.  His order confirmation email I got immediately after placing my order says that most orders ship within 2-3 days and to wait for an email from Stamps(dot)com with the tracking.  But so far nothing at all.  I emailed him thru his site and also sent him a Facebook message from his page, but it seems his Facebook page hasn't been updated since 2015.

Would you mind sending him a message on my behalf as well.  My order # is: 14186.  I do appreciate it very much.

Everything I ordered was in stock, and it was a good $60+ USD order.

I've ordered from Jim plenty of times over the years, and he's never failed to deliver.  He's definitely an upstanding member of the community and businessman.  So I'm not sure if there's something going on with him not receiving orders or a problem with his site.

Has anyone else ordered from him within the past month?

    Thanks,

    Cintoman

  • I have made several orders over the years and have always been very pleased with the quality and customer service. I haven't made any recent orders, to be fair. I'm hopeful this is just a set of isolated incidents or something unforeseen has occurred. Good luck to you - and I would just encourage anyone to give him the benefit of the doubt until you hear back.
  • I've ordered from his eBay shop in the past month and haven't had any problem. I've used his site before in the past for the NA discount and didn't have an issue either.
  • FYI I received my package today. Just got home with it.

To help clear some stuff up: It looks like the package was shipped out on Feb 21st. I placed my order on the 15th, so 6 days of handling time. I won't berate anyone over that, I've been slow before myself, just stating the facts. I did receive a response from Jim via email to my last inquiry on his site, and according to him, it had already been delivered (a week or so ago). He gave me the tracking number (which was previously unavailable due to my order still being in a "processing" state on his site), so I was able to take that to the post office and track it down. They were able to give it to me today.

This is comforting. I was concerned about how I would get matching box protectors for the boxes I have.

It is for sure. I do really appreciate the help of everyone here, especially Khan for reaching out to him via Facebook. I knew I could count on you lot.
  • He never even responded to me on Facebook, so who knows if he even saw the message. He definitely posted on Facebook afterward though, so I know he was on.

People that ignore messages confuse me. Why would you want to be Facebook friends and then completely ignore an attempt at communication?

Ah well, glad it's taken care of. And my whining about being ignored is pointless in this thread anyway.

    Carry on.
  • Ok I have a weird update now. I've gotten around to taking the protective cases and assembling them to put my games inside.

    They don't fit.

    I ordered these: http://www.videogameboxprotectors.com/store/4569532134

Should be a perfect fit! But this is what I received:

Does anyone know what size this is? t doesn't fit anything I have, and I'm honestly a bit frustrated.

Again I'm going to contact the owner through his form, and will update you here. It seems like everyone else is getting a perfectly normal transaction where everything goes smoothly, and hopefully I'm just an edge case, but at this point I doubt I'll be buying from them again, unless someone can swoop in and be like "yo, Gloves, you dumb idiot, you have the case sideways!" or something (I checked just in case and this isn't the situation).

  • Looks like maybe they sent boxed gameboy cases by mistake?

I had an issue with my order last year or so. I was sent only half the cases I ordered but I contacted the owner and he was really prompt about fixing it.
  • I ordered some SNES / N64 boxes that didn't fit right on all games. However, I also noticed several of my games had slightly different box sizes. I assumed I needed to order more carefully next time around. There was another recent thread about protector sizes, so you might find some additional information there.
  • That's an error. He should swap those with no issue
  • For full clarity: I ordered two sizes. One for cart only NES, and one for CIB NES. The box protectors do fit. It was a small order, 3 cart only and 2 CIB, primarily to test the waters. So honestly it's not like I spent a fortune. Frankly, at the end of the day I'm not terribly upset or anything. I have a protective case now for my Little Ninja Hattori box, and in the end I suppose $15 for that... isn't the end of the world I guess.

I was primarily doing this small order to test the cases, and see if I like them, before ordering a bunch for the whole collection. I'm currently looking into other options.
  • My order almost a year ago was hundreds of dollars and I was blown away at how smooth the whole thing went. Shipping was fast and the volume discount was generous. I didn't even ask for the NintendoAge discount. Everything was packed so well that I actually recorded a video that I might get around to uploading someday. He gained a fan who would proudly display his freebie sticker!

The only issue I had with my large order was that 6 out of 400 dust sleeves were defective (tip of folding hook was cut off/loose in the box). I informed him in case it would help him figure out where it was happening in his process. He readily offered to replace them but it was less than $2.70 worth so I didn't pursue it and told him not to worry about sending them separately since I'd be placing another order soon anyway. Still haven't got around to that order.

He has them packed up in certain pre-packaged amounts and will break a pack up for smaller orders, so it looks like his GB/C/A and VB protectors got mixed up with the NES protectors. Clearly an error but it isn't something that would have happened with a larger order.
