I know Burnambill has a complete set so either he was buying this to resell or buying it as a condition upgrade. I'm going to take a guess and say he bought it for the comic / condition upgrade but that point is irrelevant.
I don't have a complete set. I am missing a decent amount of unlicensed games including that one.
eBay user is puppybone69, does anyone in here know him?
He's sent me a few messages today concerning a sealed GB Donkey Kong Million Seller I have online. Looks like he's a bit offended by my asking price :
"are you on drugs? nearly $300 for a game that SOLD OVER A MILLION COPIES, and it's not even the original first print run version? even factory sealed, this game is nearly worthless!"
After a brief response explaining that I've actually received good interest for this game, I get this monologue :
"well that only goes to show you there's bigger idiots with more money to burn than I'll spend just so you can make $200 more than you had to pay to sell to a bigger idiot with more money!
obviously you and your even more uninformed buyers have never witnessed how many smarter collectors on sites like Digital Press are all laughing at sellers like you and the idiots foolish enough to pay you way more than they should for pseudo-rare factory sealed MILLION SELLER Player's Choice versions of games that had print runs of well over just ONE million!
at least the games that I pay way too much for just to get a factory sealed copy really ARE as rare as you think your factory sealed MILLION sellers are! how many of the retro games that I've bought factory sealed for big money have YOU seen on ebay in the last decade? WAY less than the HUNDREDS of million sellers like yours!
and how many overpriced pseudo-rarities like yours are STILL gathering dust on Amazon.com? TONS OF 'EM! ROFLMAO"
Knowing nothing good to respond, I reply with this :
"Would it be possible to know what's your mental issue?"
Not too long after I receive his response :
"would it be possible to know what yours is? you also just proved my point that just because some idiots are willing to pay way more than they should for a certain game doesn't mean that it's actually WORTH that much... so enjoy whatever you're able to make from bigger idiots with more money to burn than I'm willing to spend while it lasts... in this economy, there's sure to be far fewer fools burning money than there used to be!'"
And my last atempt at putting an end to all this :
"How old are you, complaining about idiots while you for instance don't seem to be very clever?"
So, the guy is apparently a proud member of Digital Press... does a guy like this represents the average Digitpress user? The way he's thinking about value and rarity of items shows that he doesn't care much about the principle of demand and offer, nor the symbolical / historical value of some games.
The things I would like to know are: (1) why didn't you just start to ignore him after his continual negative responses, and (2) what is the point of posting PM conversations from Digital Press publicly on NintendoAGE? He sounds like an idiot for sure but there is no need to throw fuel into his fire.
1. Because I find it funny my dear. For sure it's not very gentle of myself, and perhaps I'll keep these conversations for me in the future. Just wanted to share my first hate mail with the guys in here.
2. It all happened in eBay messages by the way.
This whole bitching scene isn't totally meaningless though. As rude as his discourse might be, he's still pointing out something relevant about collecting behaviors.

Ah okay. I've had my fair share of hate mail too. Usually I just ignore it but I used to fuck with the people that were sending me hate mail. I do think that it can be discouraging but don't let those bastards grind you down!!
Besides, all my common sealed games are listed in my store for $100 a pop. If anything he should be bitching at me.
I always found it better to smile and wave (maybe offer a hug even). Then tell them about the giant pile of stuff you are looking forward to listing. Nothing makes a person like that more pissed off.

Yeah I noticed that lately, prepare yourself for some dirty oldschool trash talkin'! (Great and clean listing appearances by the way)
I agree that it's never a good idea to play their game by replying similar obsenities. Some days you rather feel like a bitch though!

And I sincerely think it is the good attitude too, and will probably act like this in the future. But I don't know, that morning when I woke up and saw that message full of disrespectful self-superiority mixed up with a taste of arrogant ignorance, I couldn't restrain myself replying, and couldn't anticipate the storm of insults coming either.
I dont send emails out like this but I think this guys point is that some people buy these games up to simply make a profit off them. It makes our hobby more expensive and that much less fun when your being out bid by a reseller.
If you dont like re-sellers Find your own copies of games by your own means
I re-sell alot of games but rarely from ebay. I travel to pawn shops and video game stores hours away from my house. So there is a option for you.
I never even respond to people like that. I have got email from people after an auction format bidding ended and they said why do I rip people off. Then I just add them to my blocked bidder list and move on so I dont ever have to deal with them.
he need to go suck on a big one ! choke and die! final fantasy 7 sold millions! even thougt you can find it anywhere, people are still willing to pay top dollar for it (reguardless of the condition). i hate these folls who go around trying to play price police! if it is too high, roll on and call it a day!

Not me...I do end up blocking them but I am too hot headded to ignore them. Usually if they make me mad, I reply with something offensive and rude.....then i tell them don't bother replying as I will just delete it unread...lol. One time, this woman was extremely rude, so I told her that with an attitude like that, I would put money on it that she was unmarried and that no guy would ever put up with her. hopefully her feelings were hurt.

P.S : Here's one of his recent purchases : http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1...

Exactly. Like it or not, resellers fill a need. That's why it's profitable!
