Holy moly, I got in an order! Of course, this is gamestop, which I promised myself I would never order from again
So basicall, I envision myself getting the regular edition in the mail, or nothing at all. I really pray I actually get what I paid for this time, so I guess here's to journeying hopefully!
Hopefully this wider availability is a sign of things to come from Nintendo. I won't hold my breath, though. It's encouraging to see so many people getting a chance to buy it 4 days after it was first available.
There's a very clear line for me between what I think is acceptable for limited editions and what isn't. Nintendo's usual M/O of "well we made like 40 of these first come first serve" is pretty dumb, but stuff like Halo or Call of Duty "limited edition" bundles are either too mass produced or no one actually cares about them, because I see those hulking things sitting around for months, sometimes even years (in the case of the Halo 3 ODST limited edition crate). It doesn't feel very limited when everyone and his brother has a copy, but it isn't right to see all of the stuff made to cater to fans go to scalpers, either.
I would like to see limited editions offered up as preorders exclusively - given a set start date and end date to preorder, and then be produced to meet demand within a few hundred. What we have now is definitely far from that, where Nintendo announces a limited edition on a whim and throws fans to the wolves on whether or on they're going to get it for retail, or pay insane markup, neither of which bothers Nintendo one bit, since they still push almost 100% of product out.
I lucked out. My gamestop called me and said they have them available. I had left for vacation unfortunately. Fortunately, I had preordered Mario Kart 8 and he was able to transfer the preorder, so I got in for one. On top of that, I found a CIB Fire Emblem Fates Special edition online at another Gamestop and they are shipping it in for me, so killed two birds with one stone.

So, did Gamestop purchase like 80% of the stock from Nintendo, or are lots of people going to get an email from Gamestop along the lines of "oh, so sorry, we are out of stock. But here's $5 off your next purchase of $50 or more. Have a nice day."
The special edition was available for like 2-3 days straight on the internet and in store. I'm not sure if any of those got cancelled. It's crazy they still have them in stock.
"Nintendo's New 'Fire Emblem' DLC Costs More Than The Game Itself"
If this is true, I would say just another asinine move on Nintendo's part...
Their DLC creed from years ago about how they won't plan DLC in advance is dead, why does it surprise you? However, the title is a bit asinine because that ends up being the case with most games. The most reasonable paid DLC Nintendo has produced so far is Mario Kart 8's.

I point to the Fates special edition to answer that. Seems like there's a lot more of this special edition than Fates though, so maybe there's hope?
Bump! Got mine today with the metallic print. This game and print are gorgeous. I did not want the Amiibos as I hate Amiibo in general. Post pics if you got yours today!
I got mine in the mail yesterday. Haven't started it because I still need to do the Revelations branch in Fates (which I just started today). Where did you get that print from?

It was from gamestop. You have to buy the DLC Season Pass in store to get it. It looks really good. I have avoided DLC for almost all video games in the past with the exception of the first 2 Fire Emblems on 3DS and Breath of teh Wild. Since I was going to pay for it regardless, I decided to bite the bullet and buy it in the store today

Ahh ok. The print looks pretty awesome, do you know if you get it for just buying the DLC pass if you already own the game, or do you need to buy both from there?
I'm not too sure about the DLC, even though I'm sure you get a ton of extra game time out of it. By the time I've played through everything the vanilla FE 3DS games offer I'm usually ready to take a break from the game, so I don't know if it would even be worth it for me.
I did order the DLC for Zelda though of course. : )

I'm not sure if you need to get the game from there as well or just teh DLC. I would think you could just buy the Season Pass and you'd get it if they still have some. It's a whopping $45, it's crazy to me that it costs more than the price of the (non-Limited Edition verison) game.
I agree with everyone else that the DLC is priced outrageous. It better be some hell of a DLC. I wonder in Nintendo is testing the waters of a new business model with this.
Also, I'll be auctioning one off starting at cost here on NA. Keep an eye out tonight!

Thanks for the heads-up by the way
Hope everyone who preordered from them actually gets it.

5/19/2017: Got my copy! I bit the bullet and paid for the DLC at Gamestop for the metallic poster. It looks really great. Post pics if you got it!
How much was the poster and DLC? My copy should be on the way but I love the poster!
Edit - nvm, people were already talking about it above. If you bought all of the DLC for Awakening it was probably around the same price though.
