So, another Nintendo World Championships 1990 grey cart has popped up...

It was just another day in my store, doing trade ins, processing games, ringing customers up, etc. In walks one of our customers who has been to the store a few times. This guy is in his early 20s and is more into playing hand helds and PS1 rather than caring about NES games. I sell him a mini PS1 with the flip up screen and we chat a little as we usually do. As he goes to leave, he turns around and says, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot to tell you, do you know of a game called Nintendo World Championship with little switches on it." I say, "Yeah, sure. Why do you ask?". He says, "My uncle has that game, I heard it was valuable". So I tell him"Yes, it is very valuable. If it is in good condition, I would easily pay 5 grand for it today". His eyes get huge and he says he will talk to his uncle. As he is about to leave, I ask him can he send me a picture of it, but to prove his uncle really has it, to place the PS1 with the screen I just sold him in the picture with it. The next day, he sends me the picture below. The condition is not great, however I told him I would still pay a lot for it. His uncle purchased it at Radio Shack for $15 years ago. He told his uncle how much I offered, and his uncle got mad at him for going through his things. Hopefully I can talk them into bringing it into the store because I want this SOOO bad. Anyway, if nothing else, I thought it was cool another popped up. It is #026. I truly do not care how the condition is, I just want it for my collection.

  • Purchased a NWC at Radio Shack? How on earth did one end up there?
  • good ol rac' shack

Glad to see its not some gimmick or hoax scam attempt. And how he was able to post a pic next to something as proof.

ID still want to see it in person before doing anything further.
  • Yeah I will have it in hand, opened and verified before I ever hand them a dime.
  • Keep us updated on the process and good luck on getting it
  • that kid is going to sell his uncles nwc for a bail of weed
  • Wow! This just goes to show that discoveries are still being made!

Hopefully this does all work out for you.
  • I don't believe you.

I will only believe it when shameless gaming review websites say it's true, for the numbers.
  • Whoa. This is exciting. Good luck, man!
  • Wow, finding an NWC in the wild like this is something only a handful of people will ever be able to say. And to boot you'll probably get it for a good price too, wishing you luck man
  • Damn, good luck!

If the story's real I wonder if it was one that sold used electronics, the one in my old hometown used to and I'd find old gaming accesories there now and then.

  • Hopefully it finds its way to you.

Amen to that! Here's to some restless nights dreaming about achieving my dream cart
  • So cool knowing that these are still floating around. Love seeing these kinds of stories. Good luck!
  • In before this gets crazy! Hope that stain on the cart is coffee/soda and not cat pee!
  • First page!
  • Great news! Good luck on the purchase.
  • Here's hoping OP gets the cart soon.
  • It's cool to see these still popping up
  • It's looking like it may be a few days before I hear anything else, but I will keep this thread updated.
  • Not a good idea posting this before you have it in hand, but good luck.
  • Not like anyone knows who has it or could even figure it out. Anyway, looks like price charting has killed the deal. The guy saw price charting saying 19 grand, so now he went from wanting 3 grand to wanting 20 grand for that faded label copy. Oh well. If anything changes, I will update, but it's not looking like it will happen.
  • Wow..... a 19k private sale on VGPC and no weighted average?

thats why I use gamevaluenow.com ....only public sales, you can't factor in private sales

  • What number is it? I can't tell.
  • It's #026 I believe.
  • I guess he just searched "what's Nintendo world championships worth?" And that came up. He now thinks it's worth that much lol.
  • Tell him you hope he likes holding onto it for another twenty years.
  • Actually I think he said it's #0261 maybe. I'd have to double check. At first he said #026, but its faded past the 6 I believe.
  • Tell him to go sell it for 20k then, and laugh at him when he crawls back in.
