What's the big deal of buy games here? Same eBay Prices!

What's the big deal of buy games here? or in facebook groups or instagram? I see the SAME PRICES than eBay! same inflated prices.

I even see some better prices on ebay than off-ebay sells.

I was think games off ebay should be cost much less.

Price them too low and resellers snag them and jack the price back up. You can only do so much.

  • Very, very low risk of fakes here, good quality, minimum amount of people lying to try and get an insanely huge discount, you get the idea. Ebay minus lots of the cons of using eBay.

Yes that are advantages about here (low risk of fakes here, good quality) but the prices are the same! inflated.
  • At some point, you're doing someone a favor by going below market price. And sure, that's nice and all, but you shouldn't be expected/obligated to do it. There's only a small margin (~10%) that can be accounted for by eBay fees, so if prices were much lower than eBay here, people would just be passing up easy money by selling too low.
  • Ebay is just a price reference as to what people are roughly paying for stuff. From there you take into consideration the 10 other factors that collectards value. Condition, inserts, variants, serial ## ect

If people are paying the prices, its not inflated. Its market value.

That being said I will give a lot of the members here good deals, as many have done for me.
  • Everything I've bought here was well below market value. Sometimes you have to make offers. If stuff is priced too high, vote with your wallet and move on to the next person. Complaining about prices never helps the situation. If anything, it makes the situation worse, because it's time wasted.
  • "back in my day games only cost 2 shiny nickels"

Inflated prices? It's the market at work. Once I take ebay/paypal fees out of the equation, there's still only so much I can do for people I've never met. If you give bro prices to everybody, that's profit that I could be using to expand my collection down the drain.

Get over it or move along to something you find more enjoyable.

that could buy like two liters of MTN dew!
  • I would gladly pay a few dollars more here from a reputable member rather than deal with all of the things that could go wrong with an ebay transaction.

I agree. Simple economics, plus I've also find good deals here for the most part.

If anything, if anyone feels like something's too much, it ain't like we don't got any forms of communication or anything to help us negotiate/wheel n' deal.   If a seller says no, it ain't meant to be...

  • Overpay today, brag about what you paid tomorrow!
  • You're assuming that EVERYONE on here lists on par with eBay. That's simply untrue. Also, as previously mentioned, the lowered risk of fake crap is a HUGE benefit that is reflected in prices.
  • I went into the Sellers Forum and literally the first 3 threads I see are:

    1. A list of dozens of NES games, many of which are under $5.

    2. Both NWCs, NCC, Zelda test cart, and CIB Stadium Events

    3. A thread with a bunch of CIB homebrews

Yeah, this place is just like Ebay. Lol.
  • You'll see some threads with expensive games that keep getting bumped. Thing is those game's aren't selling. Keep an eye out and you'll frequently see sales threads with good prices. The NA auction forum has nice deals too if you don't mind getting a little competitive.
  • Speaking for my own experience, a few reasons:

    - unique items

    - ease of combining items in a shipment from one seller

    - occasional good deals

    - I've bought from a guy here that was able to get me custom orders on items in Japan I couldn't find anywhere else online
  • I've been here 2 days and picked up a couple items under eBay price... Granted I have not received them yet but he's a reputable seller so I'm not really concerned. He also has an eBay store that you can purchase the items off Nintendo age for a 10 percent discount. I don't know why your complaining about the market at work, if you want cheap, go hit the garage sales and craigslist and enjoy.

Five years ago: "Little Samson for $800? That'll never sell!"

Today: "Dude, you got Little Samson for $800? You robbed that seller!"

  • It's the same thing with comics I had 7 new mutant 98s (first appearance of deadpool), I paid about 4 to 7 dollars a piece. Needless to say I currently only own one. Most sold between 160 to 260 right around when the movie came out. Of course I kept the nicest of the lot for myself.
  • NA rocks the socks off eBay.

*Most times you've seen the seller around the forums.

    *Good deals on bundles.

    *Trades.

All around good stuff here. There's a thread that just got put up with hundreds of games and they're incredibly reasonably priced. OP definitely didn't see that thread before posting.
  • I'm not understanding the complaint. You have almost been a member here for a year with zero buy ratings and I myself have seen plenty of good buys posted in that time span. 10 percent off market value is more than fair and most are willing to do that and sometimes you can even get more off. Also, there are many collectors here with unique gaming items that won't make it to EBay but stuff like that is traded and sold through here regularly and that's what I enjoy seeing and really like about this site.

You should track the NA sales!

  • You typically just save on eBay fees when you go off-eBay. We still have to factor in PayPal fees. If you are saying all games should be $1 or something, that's just silly. Why price them way cheaper?

Some individuals may have higher prices than eBay, but so what? Just don't buy.

    Hey, that's my thread! #shamelessplug
  • I'd love to give good deals, the issues are that people flip my stuff. I've had it happen about 15 times already. Same reason I don't give amazing deals at garage sales. I left a small sticker on a cib game I sold last summer, it was on eBay within 4 hours.
  • I'm just here for the Casual Encounters.

This is why I buy here.
