Gamestop Promo

I just ordered a handful of games all between $2-$5 off.  Go checkout pre owned stock to see which games are on sale.

This sale then stacks with PRO rewards + CAG16 (16% off)  + SAVER (free shipping) promo codes.

Got about $25 off a $95 order.

Ordered all dreamcast games of course    Some of the games even ebay can't beat the prices.

I have ordered once before from gamestop and they can come loose, so buyer beware.  You also play the lottery.  Last time I ordered 5 games 4 cheap games came loose and Typing of the Dead, the most expensive game I ordered (Orig Price $30 I got for like $22) came CIB.  I think it just luck of the draw.

  • Thanks for sharing this! There was also a Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal listed on the Gamestop home page for Retro software. I tried to do this and it wasn't working. I called Gamestop and they couldn't figure it out so the lady gave me 10,000 rewards points. Not want I wanted but I'll gladly take it! It will probably go towards a coupon anyway. At least the CAG16 coupon worked
  • Oh awesome. I missed that. I just emailed them to ask because I ordered 5 games one should have been free. Will see what they say.
  • I can't get the 4th item to ring up free
  • Yeah the 3 for 1 is not working for me either. The SAVER code was working with the CAG16 code a few hours ago but now it will only let you use one of the codes instead of both. Also they are showing the 3 for 1 ended April 9th. Then on another page it says its still ongoing till April 16th.

Yeah, definitely luck of the draw.  I haven't ordered a lot from their retro site yet, but so far I'm around 50/50 for CIB and disc only.  But as long as they are willing to give you your money back, it really isn't that big of a risk.
  • Same problems ordering here.

EDIT:  On the phone with Gamestop employee at the moment.  Will report back.  He seems to be completely unaware they were doing another flash sale.

EDIT 2:  I had to walk the help line employee through how to add 4 Gamcube games to his cart and how to recognize, that all four games were priced, instead of 3 for 1.  I've been placed on hold as he goes to speak to his supervisor.  He acknowledged that the add clearly says Retro Flash Sale 4/14 to 4/16.

EDIT 3:  I was told that Gamestop will adjust the order price AFTER it has been placed.  I told them I was skeptical of this, and they offered to call me back and do so after I placed the order.  I already used PowerUp Rewards 10% and the CAG16%, so I know this guy is going to be thrown off when (if) he calls me back.

EDIT 4:  No callback.  So, I called again.  The first thing the new person told me was they were experiencing a higher number of calls than usual (We're not the only ones calling!)!  He placed me on hold for a supervisor, but he said I should expect to have to wait on the line.  Still waiting.

EDIT 5:  Call dropped.  Had to call back.  Next girl went to talk to a supervisor and told me there was no 3 for 1 sale if you used your pro membership, and my subtotal was actually $50 higher than what was listed online.  I LOL'd at her and told her to cancel the order and give me back my trade credit.  They said they would do so within 24 hours if I canceled the order.  Needless to say, I canceled.

She couldn't do the math and asked me to do it for her.  Despite giving her an exact amount on the fly, she didn't understand 3 for 1.  You'd think that someone at gamestop would have the sense to take down the 3 for 1 flash sale graphic, as it sounded like a madhouse in the background.

But in the end, it just proves that you're always playing with fire when dealing with gamestop.  They don't have much of an idea about what they're doing.  I wish I would've just saved myself the 2.5 hours of going through this.
  • Not much of a savings using the cag16 promo code after you factor in sales tax and shipping costs. If you decide to use the SAVER promo code instead, you end up paying full price for the games on top of sales tax. Not really much of an incentive to purchase a few games in my opinion, especially buying them sight unseen. They gonna have to do better than that to get me to reach deep into my pockets.
  • Game Stop's customer service is a train wreck. In store for power up reward members they have Kinects for Xbone for $10 due to s $20 off coupon.
  • Ah I had no issues, sorry fellas. I am a pro member so I get 10% off pre owned and free shipping automatically on anything over $35
  • According to their website pro members have free shipping over $35 in the upper right hand corner of the screen unless that is wrong as well.
  • lol that's right I was wrong, I lold at that joke though.
  • I use gamestop frequently, you do get free shipping (over 35 dollars) with the 10%off for a being a promember and it will stack with one item code or coupon. If you have the points like 10k you can get 15 dollars off a used game. The condition is hit or miss I got a beautiful copy of earthbound but a beat up copy of doom for the snes. I can live with that, and yes the earthbound was real as verified by the folks here by taking out the board and matching chip numbers.
  • Although I will agree their customer service is a joke but they will give you free points, one time I had them keep shipping me the same pop vinyl over and over again a mega man gamestop exclusive that was slightly damaged (4 times) and they let me keep all the others and I traded the other 3 slightly damaged ones for 18 dollars store credit at a disc replay.
  • My first retro order they sent the wrong game. After 2 weeks and several emails they sent me the same wrong game but 3 copies of it. Sold them off for a profit and let it go. It's as if monkeys are employed their.
  • I went ahead and took the plunge and ordered a few games from them. @AtariJay...I am surprised they did not require you to send back the old game before shipping the next one out. With my luck one of the games I purchased is probably the same game you had issues with.
  • First order went fine and everything arrived on time. The second order from them not so much. The items were never shipped despite having a tracking number. I had to open a dispute claim with PayPal.
  • I have an order in now that hasn't moved in a week... I'll call tommorow after it doesn't arrive and rip another 5000 points out of them. That'll put me at enough points for a free 50 dollar game certificate. I've yet to receive a game that wasn't real or the wrong game. Whenever I get a smashed pop vinyl and call and complain they let me keep the smashed box one and send me another, I did it one time 4x times in a row and gave the spare deadpool pops to friends.
  • I'm not a GS member so points would do absolutely nothing for me. I see now why they have a negative rating from consumers.
  • Anyone else getting an internal server error message when trying to access GS?
  • I just tried and the site was down for me.
  • Cool...thanks
  • I want to say that I wish they would go out of business so another more competent company can take their place, but there are no other competent companies and GS would probably destroy all of the retro games they have.

Earlier today, there was a message indicating that the site was down for maintenance.  Now you just get the server error.
  • Site is back up now
