  • Nope they were made in Japan as well. Board pics?
  • oh ok cool just curious its on a local buy and sell, anyone have a picture of a legit made in japan one with board so I can use it as a reference
  • To my personal knowledge, Earthbound is 100% Made In Mexico only. It is on the back label, with no country on the front label.

Yeah I just researched this the other day as it was brought up in another thread.

There should be no "Made in Mexico" on the front of the label but it should say Made in Mexico on the back label like you said.

    If it looks like this:

    http://www.ebay.ca/itm/EarthBound-Super-Nintendo-Entertainment-System-1995-Reproduction-SNES-/172628942391?hash=item28317c9e37:g:1icAAOSwpkFY7DTl

    It is a fake/repro.

Notice how it says Made in Japan underneath the Model#? That should "never" be there. Every single Earthbound labeled "Reproduction" have that.

Thats interesting. I've been reading a lot on Earthbound central, and occasionally someone will say I have a made in Japan cart, is it fake? Usually they end up saying its real after some debate.

I figured Made in Japan carts were just harder to find. Could just be a back swap too right?

...or maybe those chumps dont know a fake when they see it. I still need to get Earthbound so this is good to know!

Do you have a link to this local seller? I would like to check it out.
  • I was the person who the discussion was about, I have a pick of the made in mexico board that matches up with the earthboundcentral if you need a reference. I could have sworn they were only made in Mexico but it could be a different case but you won't know until you see the board.
  • I checked all the sources i had linked again and according to all sources all NTSC Earthbound were made in Mexico and it is only on the upper right hand corner of the back label. Nothing on the front about country of origin. So there is only the board that you will see on earthbouncentral.
  • It was a fake it said made in japan on the front and the guy took the ad down
