Offer up has some good deals!
Saw this on offer up just a bit ago.

I asked him to see a close up of the label of Samson. He asks why. I said I want to make sure its real. He say's it is...because he showed a picture of it playing. I said that doesn't mean it's real, he asks how to check if it's real. I tell him to just send me a picture and I can tell him. He ever does. Oh, he is asking $200 for the lot.
Some people, man.
(was this the correct place to post?)

But yeah, people think they are clever.
"Yeah, I had a NES growing up, just like anyone else! Loved me some Mario Brothers, Yoshi's Cookie and Little Samson... What do you mean you never had that one, all my friends at school were playing it!" @_@ !~
Look at the shape of the seal of quality compared to the others, the lack of "Made in Japan", the color? It's the same fake box scan slapped onto a fake label that's been going around since forever.
To make it worse, when I tried selling the repro (as a repro, of course) on ebay, it turned out to be nonfunctional, and I had to refund the money anyway. Bleh. Still wonder if it was an intentional scam or what, but I haven't seen any more listings like that since.

The mistake of not testing before selling can lead to some negative feedback.
maybe its legit....
Label is too dark, obvious fake.
That was my thought and was going to be my main statement if you hadn't beaten me to it.
To OP, if you aren't/weren't doing anything else, why not agree and then meet up in a safe place to check it out personally? Unless you had to travel a good bit or the seller wanted to meet somewhere sketchy, you wouldn't really be out anything to go take a look for yourself. In asking for close up images of just that game (and not, say, all of the games), if it is/was legit, you've now given the seller an inkling that they might have something worth more than what they're asking, potentially looking to them looking it up on eBay (etc.) and the price ballooning quickly. When in doubt, ask for higher resolution photos of everything or just go ahead and meet up--once you're there, you're not required to go through with the sale.
You don't need anymore pictures of the Samson to recognize it as a fake.
how do you recognize it so easily? i wish i was better at it. the SE is tough for me too (on pics alone). if i see it in person its much easier. but via pics its tough. care to share any tips?

I would say that just about anyone, even jonebone, would need more pics of this cart to make an absolutely certain, guaranteed statement that it was fake. However, looking at the photo, the coloration is really dark compared to the other carts that it's beside. If you've ever owned one or seen a real one laid out with other carts, you'll know how bright/saturated the colors are in comparison to what's being shown in the photo. The fact that it's just kind of "thrown in" in an "oops" kind of way with some common, but popular titles and the whole package is priced about what CL folks will ask for such a setup WITHOUT it included is just as much a red flag as the cart itself.

I thought of doing that for sure. But, I was pretty confident it was a fake. But I decided I didn't want to waste my time in the long run, I found it pretty late at night and had to work early this morning,so I let it be. (He still hasn't given me better pics!)

excellent advice. The problem with pics is, lighting can really affect how it looks. A legit Samson could look way off because the room was dark or the angle was bad. In this pic, having the game next to commons gives you something to compare too.
Just practice, everytime someone posts if a game is real, think about it and then check the responses. If you're wrong try to look at why you're wrong. Over time it just kinda becomes natural. Even from a shitty pic
