Not sure if its just me or not but I am pretty sure Mc Donald Land for NES is not in there.

I'm pretty sure that it's only called that in EU. In NA it's M.C. Kids: http://gamevaluenow.com/nintendo-nes/game/mc-kids?gameid=388

    (unless I am mistaken)

We have just around 30 PAL exclusives on the site at the moment, McDonald Land unfortunately not being one of them. The plan is to start tracking PAL games sometime next year though.

    Cool.

Nice to see its on the list of future stuff
  • added my collection over the weekend. only saw a listing for the PAL Parasol Stars, not the US version. did i just miss it or is it not on there?
  • Did something happen to the site? Looks like it hasn't been updating prices off eBay since the 17th.

Also it's not showing current eBay offerings of the games like it used to.
  • ^^ yea I noticed this too, what's up?
  • Hey guys. Sorry I didn't post anything on the site, it's typically the lowest traffic time of the year. We are making some improvements to our update process. All listing will be pushed over to site and everything updated shortly.

Thanks for the update. Happy New Year and looking forward to using GVN more this year.   great job!

  • Looks like Breath of the Wild Explorer's Edition is valued at $0 on the tracker
  • Looks like two games in my collections are showing a zero value. Not sure it it is from lack of data or what.

NIV Bible and the 20 Lost Levels of Joshua for Game Boy

Ishido: The Way of the Stones for Atari Lynx
  • First let me say I am super excited about this tracker. I went on the site and added a few games just to try it and I already love it! I'm sorry if someone already asked this question but I was to lazy to search the hundreds of comments... I downloaded the app and it directs me to the website to look at my list. Wondering if this will ever be contained in the app itself and not direct me to a web browser. It is the only thing I'm not a fan of. The rest is absolutely awesome. Thanks!!
  • Hey Hogie. Got one for ya. "CJ Elephant Fugitive" for Sega Game Gear doesn't seem to be listed on the website at all. Just an FYI.
  • Changing my last post, after seeing the qoute below.

It looks like the site still isn't importing eBay data.  I originally spot-checked 5 different games across various systems and none of them have been updated since 12/16.  Anything we, the community, can do to help you with this?

Hey rlh. I appreciate the offer but at the moment there is nothing the community to can help with. We are simply on hold while we wait on eBay to approve us for a larger API call limit. While preparing for a major release, we requested an increase in the amount of data that we could pull daily from eBay so that we could make some improvements to the site. Since that time eBay has delayed making a decision which has restricted our access until their API increase review is complete. I am doing everything I can to speed them up but unfortunately they do not seem to care about the community. I expect to have access back shortly as we were originally quoted by eBay that the review would take no longer than a week.

I appologize to everyone if I have not been as responsive as I have been in the past. This whole situation has been driving me batty. Ebay continues to thank me for my patience on the matter but I must say, my patience is running very thin. :-P

  • I understand now, but what can you do. Hopefully they won't deny your request and this will just be a symptom of growing pains. I wish there was a way that we, the users, could politely request that the unblock your account for the "services we use".

    Thanks for the head's up.
  • Hey Hogie. Just noticed that Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap for the Switch is not listed. Just an FYI.
  • Sorry if this is repetitive, but it looks like the last game data that was grabbed was at the end of 2017? Or is that at least the last the graphs updated?

Just scroll up a bit to see Hoagie's responses.  The problem was he was using their free API to pull data.  He's put in a request for increased data calls (a requirement to get daily data at this point) but eBay is dragging their heals about it.  It's starting to look hopeless.

But, I can't wait until this is up and running again... hopefully... eventually.

I can't recall if I've messaged you this, or if I just thought about it.  We're going on 3 months now and eBay is still, apparantly, giving you the runaround.  If there is a chance that you could pay a fee and have this requirement turned on, is there a chance you could either have a Kistarter or Patreon page setup.

I'ved used Kistarter for one project and I don't do Patreon.  However, in this case, I'd gladly contribute some cash for your services.  So far you've done everything out of your pocket.  I'd gladly contribute to a revenue stream so that we can get the API flowing again.

    Thoughts?

this sounds like a great idea if it would help the process. id be down to chip in a few bones.

Thank you! I did see the comment about eBay dragging their feet. I wasn’t sure if that meant his information would be lagging or if it was stopped altogether.

Hey guys! I wish this was an option. Ebay does not charge or accept any form of payment for their API use. I have asked :-(. At this point eBay still says that they are reviewing their API's and anyone who is currently being reviewed has to wait until the review is complete. This is single handedly the most frustrating experience I have ever dealt with in my life. At this point my hands are tied and I am simply trying to find someone at eBay who has some decensy to look into our situation and give us access back.
  • Ok guys, mobilize, look for people who work at eBay in your area on LinkedIn, befriend them and in 6-9 months casually ask for a favor.

Just kidding. This is ridiculous though. Your site can drive up sales, especially if you link to auction searches. Others may be inclined to look elsewhere. You kind of make it easy to use eBay.

My guess is they don't see this as a high priority money maker or the API is almost competelt unimportant to them.
  • Just curious, what is « API » ? And why pricecharting has the 2018 sold on is site instead of gamevaluenow?

It’s an engineering thing.  In this case, it’s a tool made by eBay where third-parties can use it to make direct requests for information from eBay.

By using the API, Hoagie doesn’t have to scrape these web pages.  His app can just send a search request and the API will just return the raw data.

An API is a more or less, a way to access eBay data directly from eBay, all without running a program that manually scrapes the data you want. You design your program to ask for certain data points, and eBay gives them to you.

Thanks! So I fuess pricecharting don’t use AFI since he has the 2018 sold updated?

  • How safe is it to depend on the collection tool? I have put all of my eggs in one basket with it because it is such a great tool.
